visual problems

has anyone who has successfully gone through withdrawal had their vision return to normal? it's depressing to constantly have this veil of static over your vision at all times (way worse in dimmer light) and to constantly have what appears to be sunspots (I can't tell what's a shadow and what isn't sometimes). a lot of my other symptoms seem to gradually get better, or less intense as time goes on, but this one doesn't get any better - it got worse and just stayed that way. lately i've noticed that at least a few times a day my vision goes out of focus and i get like this zoned-out feeling, or else it's just hard to see things clearly. i think going blind (losing a sense in general) is one of my worst fears.

i'm also curious what this is: today out of the blue i suddenly have what feels like pressure near the top left part of my jaw that makes it hard to bite down (felt like something was pulling it in a different direction or something). it comes in these waves of a few seconds, then goes away for a few minutes, then comes back again for a few seconds. since withdrawal started i've had tons of odd pressure sensations that eventually let up.. pressure on my forehead, inside my eye, on my cheeks, etc. it's really quite strange! this one is annoying because it makes it a bit difficult to chew properly.

Re: visual problems

I am in Remeron withdrawal. 7 months free.

My vision did deteriorate, my Dr had to adjusts my prescription glasses.
I did not have to use glasses as often, and not been used to use them feels like I dont see well. Have to use them all the time, and I dont like that.

During my Remeron use I felt my eyes like poping out, and my vision at near was bad. The eye Dr said that s because AD reduce lubrication in the eye.

Anyway I sugest to have your eyes checked for Glaucoma as its a side effect of some AD.

Do you also feel a little dingy (brain fog) during these periods or is it more of a visual thing? How long do these periods last?

My visual symptoms are all over the place. I've gone weeks with great vision but the blurriness always seems to come back. It's often worse in the evenings.

Re: visual problems

i'm not sure what you mean by brain fog, i have what seems like a slowness in understanding what people are talking about and several other symptoms like that (stuttering at points, using wrong words, seeing wrong words) - basically i call this "the stupids." the vision doesn't seem related to it. it is constantly there, and has never let up. the zoned-out thing is weird, i guess it's like.. i space out, my vision goes foggy, and i just stare off at things but i'm still listening to what people are saying, lasts about 5-10 seconds, happens a few times a day. the other visual stuff is constant and has never let up, which is what worries me about it. i've read several threads on HPPD on other sites where people report the same symptoms (static pixelated vision, floaters) & for all sorts of different reasons. if it's a brain thing as opposed to an eye thing i'd hope it would sort itself out by now (or at least start to), as i got my eyes checked twice last year and though they noticed my vision was getting worse both times, they said everything else looked fine...

Re: visual problems

For me the vision problems do not seem related to the brain fog. A splotchy "veil" and floaters and shadows make it difficult to read the computer screen, or papers, for example.

It comes and goes, and varies day-to-day. Like you, Blankets, I worry about going blind, so I try not to think about it too much.

Re: visual problems

margaret, it's good to hear that yours lets up sometimes. if i had at least a day where it wouldn't be there then i would know it wasn't something permanent..
