Would be nice to expand this past just paxil

I took prozac and Zoloft for only 5 weeks and w/d for 2 years of HELL. I find that no matter what SSRI you are on they are all bad ad the end it seems. Well at least for the people on this board

You're exactly right when you say they're all bad. On an individual basis one is no better than another.

We have several members here who were on Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, and we're getting Cymbalta and Lexapro users now also.

This board was started because of Paxil, but is most definitely not limited to Paxil.

Re: Would be nice to expand this past just paxil

Have we got ex-Prozac users? I mean, I know there ARE ex-Prozac users having problems, but I don't remember any here (apologies to anyone I've forgotten!).

All the others though, yeah. The scary thing is that some of the worst-affected people here were never on Paxil. Of the long-timers, the people who've really suffered badly for a long long time, I think about half of them were on some other pill (usually Zoloft or Effexor). It looks to me - even from this small sample - that Paxil might cause bad withdrawal more *often* than other SSRIs, but not necessarily *worse* withdrawal. In other words, if you get off Paxil you stand a good chance of getting hit, but then you have a decent chance of recovery within 6 months to a year. When you get off something else, you're less likely to get hit, but when you do there's a good chance it will be a nasty one. As if HEAVY withdrawal can happen with all SSRIs, but MEDIUM-HEAVY withdrawal is much more common with Paxil. Or maybe that's just my impression. Might be nonsense.

Ah wait - Luvox. I don't remember seeing a single Luvox user here. Does anyone even still prescribe it? Is it even still available? I heard a rumour it pretty much vanished after the bad press from Columbine, but that might just have been a rumour.
