activia

I started eating Activia (its a new kind of yogurt) with bifidus regularis (that is SO much fun to say)a few days ago and I'll be damned but it WORKS! I can already tell the difference during the day if I dont eat one in the morning. If I eat one then my stomach feels 100X better than on the days that I dont eat it.

Re: activia

I also had a lot of tummy problems and started taking Activia every morning. It really helped to "settle" my tummy too. Now that I'm weaning off of Paxil, all my intestinal problems have completely disapeared! I no longer need any anti-acids or Activia. Now I'm wondering, if Paxil was actually the culprit and was responsible for creating my problems?

It really seems to help with the nausea and the heartburn. And Paxil is ABSOLUTLEY what was causing the problems since seratonin is kept mostly in the stomach.
I thought the activia would taste gross but they had a little old lady giving free samples at the supermarket so I tried it there and it is really yummy! She gave me a coupon for $1.00 off so I figured what the hell I'll give it a try.

Re: activia

Hmm, I've been wondering about Activia. I eat yogurt most every day, but lately I've been wondering if the brand I've been eating (Yoplait original) has sometimes CAUSED me some gut cramps. Maybe only certain flavors, though.

I had IBS even before Paxhell, so I can't blame it entirely for my digestive problems, although during WD the diarrhea has been very bad. The diarrhea has caused me to go for the loperamide a couple of times and that has gotten me straightened out for a few days at a time, at least.

The past few days I've needed the GasX tabs a couple of times, too.

I'll be giving the Activia a try. Thx, Cally!

Cally, would you recommend eating the Activia yogurt over regular brands of yogurt?

Well I eat both but if I could only eat one then yes I would DEFINATLEY choose the activia. The cups arent as big as the regular yogurt which is why I still eat a reg yogurt too but later in the morning. They said that if you dont think it works for you after 2 weeks you can get your money back. And like I said I figured it would taste gross but they taste really good!

The strawberry is yummy so is the blueberry and you can a get package with both in it. I'm glad you tried it and liked it Maragaret I hope it works as well for you as it does for me. Maybe they will make them bigger when they get more popular.

Re: activia

I love yogurt and have been wondering about Activia. Paxil gave me horrible acid reflux and I was on a prescription for it for the last 7 years of Paxhell. Since stopping Paxhell, my heartburn has gone waaaaaaaaay down but sometimes my stomach just feels yuck! I'm going to give this a try. Thanks for the heads up Cal.

Re: activia

When I was ON Paxil, I had diarrhea every day for nearly 2 years. Had all the gut tests. Nothing, of course. THE DAY I QUIT TAKING PAXIL the diarrhea disappeared.

Since then I have developed diverticulosis with occasional diverticulitis. I have been interested in Activia just to see if it will contribute to my sense of well-being. Based on what all y'all have said, I'll give it a shot. What does it say, eat it 4 weeks and see?

Re: activia

I know this is an old thread but rather than start a new one...

I bought some Activia today to see if it eases my stomach.

I already drink Actimel (I think its called DanActive in the US) daily as its said to be good for the immune system.

Did anyone have any success with the Activia in the end? Or anything similar?

Re: activia

The point of Activia is the probiotics, to help make you regular. But, all yogurt has probiotics in it. I don't know what your stomach issues are, but again, Activia is geared towards irregularity.

Acidophilus is the same thing in pill form I have just used it to combat some nasty side effects of antibiotics. It works very well for those who don't like yogurt.

Re: activia

I love Activia and it keeps me very regular. The tast is great and I love the strawberry and the fibre ones.

Funny thing, I'm not crazy about Activia in the US....flavours are a bit off and the ones with fibre in it have A LOT of fibre in the yogurt.
