Burning sensations?

Does anyone else get burning sensations in their arms or legs during w/d?
I am on my last dosage at 2mg and have just noticed these symptoms at this dose?
Is this common?
thanks.

Yes - awful burning in my arms, chest and upper back... light the highlights in that Cymbalta commercial [if you know what I'm talking about]... my eyes have also burned... it is definitely a w/d symptom. I'm taking the Label Me Sane products and the burning has gone away... thankfully... it was haunting.

Re: Burning sensations?

Yes, I've had that for over a year now, it comes and goes, more at the beginning of a taper, then it lessens as time passes. I'm two weeks into my latest taper and having that issue. Sugar and salt seem to increase the sensation, must be things that stimulate my Central Nervous System. So, I avoid those. And you just started having them at 2 mgs. Hopefully it will just continue to get better for you. It's W/D when that is happening to me.

Re: Burning sensations?

when i cold turkied back in 2002,my whole body was burning ,it felt like my blood was on fire, explaining this to anyone as you can imagine they looked at me as if i was a loon. This withdrawal i have it on and off but its mainly limited to my arms and legs,it is deffinately worse if i have over done things or been too stimulated, its one of my worse symptoms of all times.
I had hormone problems back in 1998 but i never had anything like this burning,it only started when i quit seroxat and its never gone away.

Re: Burning sensations?

Joanne,
Does it stay at the same level as it was originally, or does it come an go like mine? I'd go crazy if it hadn't reduced. I was afraid it would be that way forever....I feel for you.

Re: Burning sensations?

Betsy,no beleive me its no where near as bad as it was in the beginning ,now its just like an uncomforable sunburn on my arms and legs,i have weeks where it goes then comes back when im over tired,go near anything i react to,ie foods, drugs, chemicals, when i have this burning i know im having a bad phase as i seem to get the whole range of withdrawal symptoms with it.
When i get it now it makes me feel edgy but not blind raging panic like it used to be,i am hoping this symptom does go once the cns recovers.

Re: Burning sensations?

This is a major symptom for me, and it is hard not to descend into sheer panic. When I dropped from 10mg to 7.5mg, it felt like my body was on fire, I never felt anything like it even though I had suffered from severe panic attacks for years before starting paxil, so I knew it was withdrawal. Now that I'm doing tiny drops, I feel it occasionally but not as bad. Also, when I feel it and I don't panic, it subsides much more quickly, so the anxiety definitely feeds it and makes it worse.

Re: Burning sensations?

Hey,
We are learning so much about this stuff! We aren't buying into the negative responses our body is having. Look how much we are learning about handling anxiety...for those of us who had it prior to paxil.... we won't let the paxil get us and when we are off, we dont' have to let those old feelings of anxiety get us either, because it is only anxiety....hard way to learn but I sometimes learn only the hard way....
Hope everyone's day goes better today!

Re: Burning sensations?

Very common .. the worst was back in February..that would be 2 1/2 months post Paxil..it hit me really hard.. it spread from my legs and arms to my whole body.... I had that for 4 days..then it went away..Now it comes and goes..but never to the same degree of intensity.

Fish oil, magnesium, calcium, nettle tea and gentle exercise will go a long way..remember this takes a long time to heal..its nervous system related and yes your right..stay away from stimulants..sugar and salt actually will affect the adrenal glands which because of Paxil use are in a weakened state, which in turn affects the whole endocrine system.

Regards, Johnny

Re: Burning sensations?

When this happens has anyone experienced the nausea and everything that comes with it at the same time..This makes me so angry that I am going through this. All these side effects are way worse than what I got on paxil for..panic attacks.

Re: Burning sensations?

I remember some time posting about this problem but as with most things it gradually goes and you suddenly think, hey, havent had that for a while. I think its best not to think back on symptoms in case your mind brings them back on. I dont get it often now, except during the night when I tend to get my peri menopause problems.
