Please remind me...

Hi all,

Yucky day here today. I dropped to 7mg about 1 week ago and today got hit with stomache pains, dizziness, depression and anxiety surges, exhaustion, vision changes, overall "rubbery" feeling, burning, etc. I know all the things I am supposed to do, am trying to accept this is a temporary state, but am being besieged by negative voices telling me, "Oh, you waited too long, 13 years on paxil, you'll never recover", all that crap. I need to hear some voices besides the ones in my own head (I don't mean that in a psychotic way!) so I thought anyone here going through a decent window could send me a little hope and love.

Thanks all.

Re: Please remind me...

This is what tapering slowly is all about--it can be bad for a little bit, but you will stabilize and stick there for as long as you need. You WILL feel better, sooner rather than later.

Re: Please remind me...

Hi Casey,

I was on paxil for 13 years too!

I'm so glad you're tapering slowly; that doesn't get rid of withdrawal symptoms but it seems to make them far less severe than they would be otherwise, and also reduce the length of withdrawal as well as the likelihood of a long-term protracted withdrawal, which I'm going through.

Even though I was on a long time and, worst of all, unknowingly tapered too fast, I'm doing better than I was, so it does get better! On days I'm still not doing well it doesn't feel like it, but then I do better and have to admit that even on my "bad" days it's not was bad as what I went through before, especially given my much-too-fast taper.

I expect you're going to have a much easier and shorter recovery than I did, since you're tapering slowly. But it still can have rough patches. Everyone here is familiar with that and will support you through it. You're going to get better, no question about that!

Post as often as you need to, and I'll be thinking of you.
