Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

I know you are all getting sick of me already today!

Quick question...

Even though I am not weaning yet, can I still take the supplements suggested here? Would they be helpful?

Thanks!

I started taking the supplements immediately after I found Paxil Progress (I was in cold turkey withdrawal and then reinstated Paxil). I took them throughout my wean and continue to take them to this day. To me, Magnesium Glycinate and Fish Oil have been my best friends through this whole process.

Focus your attention on the here and now. Recognize it for what it is: the one moment of the only life you will ever have that you truly possess. Rare is the individual who has come to completely accept that the past is no more than a memory and the future an assumption about unborn events.

Re: Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

Not getting sick of you at all! Don't worry about that a bit!

The supplements recommended here are things people use frequently, whether in w/d or even if they're never used medications, just for health reasons, as well as for depression and anxiety. By all means try them!

Re: Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

Please dont ever feel like you ask too many questions. If we had all asked too many questions then we wouldn't be in the mess that we are now. Education is key with this stuff. The more you know - the better off that you are.

I am going off of Paxil in 14 days and I bought Calcium/Magnesium Citrate and Tart Cherry Extract today. Some people say that Magnesium causes digestion problems so I am only going to take 1 a day instead of the 3 pill regular dose. I will let you know what happens.

Hang in there !!!

Best of luck to you in 14 days! It is exciting... isn't it? Just to know you are so close to being able to say goodbye to Paxil?

I am curious though... what is tart cherry extract?

Re: Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

Tart Cherry Extract is one of the components of the Label Me Sane program and is supposed to help with the insomnia. I am cheap and decided to just buy it from the health food store.

Re: Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

Cherry extract has malatonin in it. Melatonin is a natural sleep aid that you can buy in many forms.

Absolutely...listen it took almost 1 year form my calcium and magnesium levels to get back to normal for me. So no time is too soon.

Re: Quick (Maybe Stupid) Question

I suggest trying supplements one at a time, and starting with low doses then gradually (no more than every four days or more) working up in dose, so if you have a bad reaction such as worsening of w/d symptoms, you'll know which supplement is likely to have caused it and to determine what dose is best for you.

I'd hold off on the multivitamin since those contain B vitamins and things that can be too stimulating in w/d. You can try them later when your condition is more stable. Try to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet to get the nutrients you need. But supplemental magnesium (usually citrate or glycinate) and fish oil help many people here, though some of us can't tolerate them. So start with small doses and try them one at a time. If you think they make your w/d symptoms worse, stop taking them; you can always try them again to see if it was just coincidence (I've often had to try supplements several different times since w/d symptoms can come and go or at least vary in intensity even without taking supplements). Just wait at least four days (preferably seven or more) for the supplement to completely clear your system before trying it again or trying another one.
