Am I experiencing zaps???????????

I have suffered with the dreaded whoosh effect for years. While "pooping out" from Paxil, if I missed a dose and especially now that I'm tapering....although less now that my taper is slow. I've been noticing this weird buzz in my left ear. Always only my left ear. It's so hard to describe other than similar to a buzzing in my ear that lasts a bout 5 seconds or so, a couple times a day for the past couple months. It's more of a feeling than a noise...I think??? I don't get an electrical feeling in my head or limbs.....so are these zaps????

I think that everyone experiences zaps differently and this certainly could be your version of them! I found that they happened most for me when I moved my eyeballs too fast. Such an annoying withdrawal symptom.

Re: Am I experiencing zaps???????????

Kris10- Did you experience whoosh feeling while still on your full perscription of Paxil? I am on 40mg and for the past couple of weeks have been experiencing wd symptoms even though I have not cut my dosage at all. Is this what happened to you? As far as zaps go....I agree that we all experience zaps differently. I just tapered off of a benzo and your zaps sound a lot like what others have described on www.benzoisland.org. Check it out.

Normal..there could be other weird sounds..its best not to focus too much on them and let them upset you..it will pass.

Re: Am I experiencing zaps???????????

I've had zaps and I also read a lot of zap descriptions. In my mind, what you describe is not a zap, but it's very common to have weird ear sensations during withdrawal, i.e. sounds, buzz, vibrations, snaps or congestion. I wouldn't worry about it, it's just part of withdrawal.
