What do you think?
I'm almost finished with month 9 and have almost no symptoms right now! I've been able to concentrate and work well. It's been rough in the last few months, so I hope this lasts.
I'm currently applying to grad school and some doubts are coming to mind: Will I be good enough to start grad school when I'm 18 or 19 months post paxil? Do strong waves happen during/after those months that will cause me to drop everything? I know everybody is different, but if any of you have been in this website for a while, what have you noticed? Are people able to start challenging things after the year and a half mark? I'm also starting to work on my original anxiety and I'm currently looking for an effective therapy. No more medications for me. But if any of you have suggestions for good books, please let me know. Right now I'm also going through a period where I've been questioning God. Why am i going through this? Why now at a point in my life when I'm in big life transitions? Why does he let people suffer? Don't get me wrong. This experience drew me close to God. More then ever. And I'm looking for sources that will help me become more spiritual. Ok this is getting long. I really need comments and opinions on my grad school questions right now though. Paxil has been on my mind so long and my body has been through a lot that I do have doubts about that. Thanks.

Re: What do you think?
It's great that you are doing so well! I was ready to take on bigger things in my second year off of paxil. I did hit a couple of minor bumps in the road during that year, but I also had a very tough time at nine months, too, so it looks like you are already doing better than I did. If I were you, I would not be overly concerned about w/d affecting your grad school experience. I'm sure you will do great!
As for your spiritual issue, I recommend a book called, When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Rabbi Harold Kushner. He was a guest lecturer at my (Methodist) church a few years ago, and he is wonderful!

Re: What do you think?
Heck yes you'll be good enough!! You're doing very well and will only go up from here!
As far as books, gosh....I don't even know where to begin. Start with what Kim recommended. Also, there's a book called "Know Why You Believe" By Paul E. Little. It answers questions like, why does God allow bad things to happen, etc. It's very short and a very easy read.

Re: What do you think?
Thanks Katesmom and LC! It's great to have support from people that are familiar with w/d. It's been very hard to think about the future right now, specially when they ask me about my plans and goals, but I'll try to focus on my applications and hopefully everything will go well.
Thanks for the book suggestions, I'll get started on those once I finish with a couple I'm currently reading.

Re: What do you think?
Hi MoeDaddy,
It sounds like you are doing very well, you should be proud of yourself and have every reason to think you will continue to do well. Some books that have really helped me with difficult emotions: 1.) Power over Panic, by Bronwyn Fox 2.) Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life, by Steven Hayes (huge help for me.) 3.) Embracing the Fear, can't remember author's name, you can do a title search on Amazon. 4.) The Feeling Good Handbook, by David Burns (the bible of cognitive therapy.) Best of luck in your future pursuits and keep us posted! ![]()
