Withdrawal Time Frame
Hey there. Can anyone give me an idea of how long approx it takes to withdraw off these horrible drugs. Is there a general time frame or does it vary from person to person.

Re: Withdrawal Time Frame
It varies greatly from person to person. In our experience the faster the wean the worse the symptoms are and the length of time can be longer. Weaning is only the first step in withdrawal. Then the brain needs time to adjust. This is a time consuming process, but well worth it.

Re: Withdrawal Time Frame
People who taper correctly will take several months to over a year just to get off the drug, depending on what dosage they started at and the severity of their withdrawal symptoms. I tapered over 4 months and that was too fast, I think. Once you are completely off the drug withdrawal symptoms are likely to continue for quite a while longer. I would say most people feel significantly better by 12 to 18 months off, but that really varies. Some have it pretty easy and feel better right away while others still struggle after 2 years and longer.

Re: Withdrawal Time Frame
Hi Brendah,
Once I was completely off Paxil, I had The paxil flu, and nausea, aching hands, legs, loss of appetite..I'm not sure what else..That lasted about 3 wks..Then I felt pretty good. then every once in a while after that, I would get a sick feeling for a day or so..no big deal....I am just around the 5 month mark now, and for the last week and half..I feel like I'm back at the beginning of my withdrawal, although not sick in bed..My body is shaky, hands and feet hurt..I'm anxious..I'm hoping this a window poeple talk about..I just want this pain to go away..I just keep telling myself this will get better...Good luck to you... |

Re: Withdrawal Time Frame
i am 8 months off..and still have fatigue..body pains..muscle soreness..spacy feeling ect....When i went off paxil..for the first 6 months..i had nausea and fatigue..then i started to see other things after that!! so it all depends on your taper...i went slow in the beginning..then in one month went from 10 to 5 then off..

Re: Withdrawal Time Frame
Thx for your replies. Unfortunately due to a severe drug reaction I have had to cold turkey off 20mgs. Not cool but am determined to hang in there.
Hopefully one day the sunshine will come out again. God Bless |
