What now???

I've been doing well for a few weeks. (It's been 8 weeks since stopping my six Ativan and six Paxil pills.) Over the last few days I've had some insomnia, morning anxiety, chest tightness, etc. but today is the worst - nausea, chills, shaky, a little lightheaded - I barely made it through the school day. Is this the Paxil flu that I never had?

I've stopped my magnesium and Vitamin C today - are they causing this, maybe?

I'm soooooo discouraged. Like all of you, I never expected this. I feel awful tonight. Everyone said this would be short-lived because my exposure was so limited. Please - now I have to ask - how long is short-lived?

I've also cried the last two nights and could easily do it again. I try to stay positive but I tend to see the dark side of everything.

Thanks.

Everyone is different, but just because you hit this bump, don't let it doscourage you too much. We can't say exactly how long this will last, but it will be short lived.

I've never heard of mag or vitamin C causing these symptoms, but anything is possible.

Re: What now???

Thanks, Laurie.

What about tea? I had a cup of decaf tea each of the last two mornings. Is that okay? Some would taste great right now with my stomach so queasy but I'm so afraid.

I also have Tension Tamer, mint, and maybe even Sleepytime. Are they usually okay?

Re: What now???

i took ATIVAN FOR ONLY 10 days..and had a horrific reaction to it..i had withdrawal for 8 weeks..and it was a living nightmare...

also try to remember that Anxiety also causes those types of physical symptoms..

and..maybe you have had a delayed reaction with the Ativan...Ativan is one nasty benzo!!!..i was alarmed at the withdrawal that i got from it....my entire body would twitch..i had blurred and wobbly vision in both eyes..headaches, i could not sleep at all..i did not eat for almost 8 weeks..i had to force a banana down with a cup of milk each day...i had face pains..pains in my jaw..pains in my sinus..and the list goes on and on and on...

Re: What now???

Decaf is fine. If you have peppermint, or ginger, they would be great for your tummy! Plus, it's very soothing and relaxing.

You know, you may wake up tomorrow and this is all gone! Yes, it's disgusting what just a small amount can do to a person. But, you're so blessed that you didn't take this any longer, you truly are.

Re: What now???

Michele, how did your symptoms stop? Was it all of a sudden or did they fade away - good days mixed with bad?

Sometimes I wonder if, after 8 weeks, this is even related to the meds anymore. I've had some anxiety (that's how I started this long journey) since a high blood pressure diagnosis in April of this year - maybe THAT has now morphed into this. Scary thought. Yet, when I'm lucid, I have to admit that the muscle spasms, insomnia, burning in my stomach, etc. seem to cry out meds.

Re: What now???

Decaf is different from no caffiene. If it's decaf, it could have as much as 1/2 the caffiene of regular. Look for kinds of tea with no caffiene.

Like LC said, this is a bump in the road. Take this weekend to rest.

Re: What now???

Kim, I didn't know that decaf tea had some caffeine. It would be interesting if that explained some of this. Thanks.

I'll look in the pantry right now for my mint tea.

Laurie, thanks for the hopeful comment. I find I need a lot of those because I'm kind of negative. If I wake up tomorrow and this is gone, I'll be thrilled.

Thanks.

Re: What now???

Yes, I'm sorry....decaf does have some caffeine in it. But, the sleepy time, or mint tea do, which is what I was referring too. If you drink the Celestial Seasonings, most of them are caffeine free. Not all, but most.

I was going to say the same thing. Decaf is NOT the same as caffein free. It still has some caffein in it. I am very sensitive to it also so I am very careful myself.

I hope this passes quickly for you. Just try to take it in stride and know that it is w/d and will pass. Try not to give it too much power. (((((((HUGS)))))))
