Aropax Vs Loxamine

Hiya, has anyone experienced any strange side effects like major nights sweats and itching skin?

My chest area has become motley and very itchy!! My husband suggested this morning that it might be the change to this new pill Loxamine that we have been forced to take instead of Aropax which I have never had a problem with. Do you think these things happening to me are from the change?

Would really appreciate somebody elses views. Thanks

Re: Aropax Vs Loxamine

You are VERY welcome! I believe that some of the New Zealanders(is that what someone from New Zealand is called????) here have contacted the authorities there about the problem. I'm sure they'll post here to update you.

Re: Aropax Vs Loxamine

Hey Scotty, you appear to be a VERY knowledgeable person and am getting the gist that Paxil is actually the name for Loxamine or Aropax and I correct?
I have read quite a few threads so far today and I see alot of people are trying to get off their anti-depressants. I guess Im quite naive but I felt that I would be on these things for the rest of my life which dosnt really concern me as not being on them concerns me more. Is is in your opinion (professional or otherwise) to acutally taper yourself off these things. I was always under the understanding that the drugs I take help me to process information normally as my brain need the extra chemical to help with that process. Would appreciate your thoughts if you have time.

Re: Aropax Vs Loxamine

Hey Prozzy

I'm from NZ. And yes after taking the new drug for about eight weeks have had a shocking reaction, acute execma (which I have never had before) all over my arms, face, neck, hands etc. Was sent to hospital as it was so severe. They told me it was a reaction to the new drug and that I had to stop taking it immediately. So I have had to cold turkey off 20mg of Aropax. Apparently if you are having problems with the new drug you can approach your doctor and demand the old drug ( you will just have to pay for it) but may well be worth it, and someone told me that if you get a written letter stating you have reacted to the new funded drug you should be able to get the old one at a reduced cost. We have had a lot of problems over here with drug changes across the board - not just for anxiety. Hope this helps. Hang in there. God Bless.

Re: Aropax Vs Loxamine

Hi all. I have just sent a brief email noting the issue and a link to this message string to CARM (MedSafe's reporting branch in Otago) noting the problems. I can't guarantee anyone will read it or that it will make a difference, but maybe, just maybe, it will bring the issue to the attention of the power that be in New Zealand.
