Some things I have learned through all this

A post earlier today made me stop and think about what I have learned from this whole experience. I sat down and made a list of some of the meaningful lessons that I can think of so far, that I have learned about myself and life, going through this excrutiating experience. I wonder if others' have learned the same things? I could go into much detail about each but I will keep it simple.

It's ok to not be perfect.
It's ok to be vulnerable.
Its ok to feel uncomfortable feelings.
What I feel inside is ok.
Its ok to have feelings no matter what they are.
I am stronger than I think I am.
Quiet is ok.
It doesn't matter what other people think about me. It only matters what I think about myself.
Anxiety is just a feeling and I don't have to be afraid of it.
I am more incontrol than I think I am.
My way is not the only right way.
I have learned to stop and really listen.
Relax.
Patience.
It's ok to speak up for what you want.
It's ok to take care of yourself.
The people who really care about you stick by you through thick and thin.
Be gentle with yourself.
I don't have to put on a happy face every day.
I used to be so busy being busy that I didn't know who I really was.
The confidence I used to have was fake. What I have now is real.
I'm ok!
There's no place like home.

Re: Some things I have learned through all this

Diane - incredible and awesome post!!!!! That is the key to paxil withdrawal.....if it makes us better, stronger, wiser, more empathetic, more "real", more loving of ourselves, more accepting of others ........ then to me, its all worth it!!!

Focus your attention on the here and now. Recognize it for what it is: the one moment of the only life you will ever have that you truly possess. Rare is the individual who has come to completely accept that the past is no more than a memory and the future an assumption about unborn events.

Re: Some things I have learned through all this

Bravo! What a wonderful list!

I believe I am having this experience because there are things I need to learn. Thinking about it as a learning experience helps me to stop feeling angry or 'down' about having to go through the whole experience - you know, when I start thinking "why did I....", "why didn't I...", instead of accepting the way things are.

These are great lessons and I hope that I am learning them too!
