Hyper feeling...
I have been feeling rather hyer for about 2 days now. It feels great! I have actually got alot of housework done and have felt much happier. However, not sleeping as much either. Also: Scary. The last time I felt "hyper", I had an anxiety attack a couple days later-couldn't breathe or stop crying. Pray for me please that this is a good thing, and not a bad thing to come.
Week 3 of my taper (30mg,22.5, and now 18.75mg) 10/23/07

Re: Hyper feeling...
It may be anxiety related. You may want to slow down your taper a bit. At least stabilize where you are before any further tapering.

Re: Hyper feeling...
Sounds like hypomania. I sometimes feel a little like this just after a dose drop but it doesn't last for long, withdrawal symptoms start a few days later. I have found that I have got into a kind of cycle of dropping then stabilising, and it seems to follow a general pattern with minor variations.
Sounds like you are tapering quickly. I would recommend staying on one dose for at least 4 weeks, as withdrawal symptoms can appear two or three weeks after a dose drop. This gives your body a chance to adjust to the dose drop and stabilise. If you go quickly, the drops can end up catching up with you later.

Re: Hyper feeling...
Songbird is right. This is classic hypomania. Man, it is the most welcome feeling in the world. You don't feel crazed, just really, really energetic. In fact, you begin to think that it's the way that other people must feel all the time. My first week after my 50% cut, I cleaned my house top to bottom better than I had the entire time I had been on paxil AND worked out every day for the first time since before paxil. I thought, Wow, if this is what I feel like on a half dose, imagine how great I'll feel on none! Dangerous thinking.
The next week, w/d caught up with me. It took a couple of weeks actually for all of the fallout to take place, but suffice it to say, I was bedridden for more than a week as a result of dropping too quickly and then I don't remember too much after that for a while which is a good thing. Keep the taper slow, slow, slow. Be aware that this feeling you have, no matter how good it feels right now, is deceiving. It is w/d and it is NOT a sign to taper.

Re: Hyper feeling...
Your dropping WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy to fast.. I would stop right there and stabilize.. again I repeat this is NOT ASPIRIN ok..these drugs ALTER your entire hormonal makeup and even if you stopped Paxil right this instant and were 12 months "Paxil free" I assure the effects are so profound you would and will still be in "withdrawal" 12 months later..... so I repeat.. don't underestimate what this drug can do
SLOW DOWN Regards, Johnny |

Re: Hyper feeling...
because basically anything over 20 is excessive for most people, you might get away with dropping that way until you hit 20. But don't go that fast once you get below 20.

Re: Hyper feeling...
This definately sounds like hypo-mania to me. As good as it may feel now, this is not a good sign. I lived through this and afterwards hit bottom real hard. That was 4 1/2 years ago and am still paying the consequences of some of my actions during that time. If I were feeling what you are knowing what I know now I'd go back up to 22.5 and try to stabilize. Best of luck to you whatever you decide, and please keep us informed of your status.
