Still Poop out

I have discussed this problem with several doctors, which says this is extremely rare. If you upper the dose the poop out will disappear.

Re: Still Poop out

That is not necessarily true. Some people are able to up the dose and make the symptoms subside. Some people end up feeling worse and some people don't see any changes at all. Where are you at in your wean?

Re: Still Poop out

Actually I would think that yes, upping the dose would help. And then, after a few months, your body (which now knows how to more easily catch up to and compensate for the drug) will again gain tolerance. You can only go so high, and in the end, you're coming off of 60 or 80 mgs instead of 20! Man, I can't even imagine. I started my taper at 40 mgs, and even making huge drops at the beginning and going a little bit faster in some spots has taken me a year and a half!!

Weaning while in poop-out is painful and difficult and you don't get a break. I'd rather have a year weaning without any breaks than three!!

95' - started paxil, 20 mgs; up to 30.
two ct's, then 60 mgs for years.
40 mgs in '02, poop-out in '05
start taper= 5/8/06
at 20 = 6/17/06
at 15 = 8/8/06
at 10 = 10/15/06
at 5 = 12/14/06
Paxil free as of 3/8/08
(drops were done gradually - not from 20 to 15 and so on)
Smoke-free as of 2/27/08
Still doing well, no smoking yet and I haven't been hospitalized - 10/2/09

Rare in their eyes only because so many cases go unrecognized or misdiagnosed. There are finite limits in dosing.

Re: Still Poop out

I dont believe the answer to poop out is to up the medication, in my experience this only makes things worse, and gives you higher dosages to w/d from, as for trusting docs, that is another issue, my doc wont even accept that I am suffering from w/d, even having all the symptoms.

When I see him, he says that this is a return of my original depression, my god, it was never like this, before paxil - seroxat. I can only look forward to being off completely and going to see him to prove him wrong.
If we recognise w/d, why cant they, they are paid to provide a service - I have to say - I am totally dissatisfied. If I were to take everyone on this site with me, he'd say we were all depressed, not in w/d, and recommend we all had some more poison toi add to the problems.

HE MUST BE ON MEGA-BUCKS FROM GSK FOR PUSHING THIS S***

PS, I think docs should be used as guinea pigs, to test these drugs before they are available to the public, then at least they would know the difference between w/d and depression

Re: Still Poop out

Amen to the guinea pig idea - I think that they should be required to take them and then do a cold turkey withdrawal after about 6 months. I go for my annual exam in a few months and I am going to love telling my doctor that I do NOT need a refill on my Paxil prescription.
