OH NO Orange Goooooo ewwwwww!

Heh, heh
I know I shouldn't complain, I am lucky the liquid form is available locally. I've just been on the phone with the doctor arranging for a RX for it. I started out on orange gooo because we ramped the dose up slowly. What I want to know is who came up with the flavor? And the color? Like it bears any relationship to what occurs in nature??? Blech. I've had to endure lots of vile tasting things while getting my liver cleaned out, but they were vile all on their own without any nasty added flavors and colors.

Hah, I just read the fine prints on the ingredients from an old (out of date) package. This stuff contains citric acid, to which I have a known (but not life threatening) allergy. hmmm which is worse I wonder, a steady dose of a known allergen or the potential withdrawal symptom increase of making bigger drops by chopping up the tablets.

Those of you who use a compounding chemist. . . do you need an rx for the specific amount you're taking? Basically, my GP has left the tapering off in my hands after offering a few inappropriate suggestions. I'm to go by what my body tells me, which seems sensible. But if I need an rx every time I want to try a lower dose, it's going to be a pain in the butt. You can't get face to face appointments very easily. There is an acute clinic, or a telephone appointment, anything else requires about a month's wait.
Ah the glories of the national health system.

Yes, you'll need a prescription for each dose. You can use the tapering schedule spreadsheet, take it in to your doctor, and have him write the scripts for each one. Then, you can take the prescriptions in to your pharmacist and call in each one, as needed.

Re: OH NO Orange Goooooo ewwwwww!

Thanks for that quick reply Laurie.
I've been on the phone again with the doctor. Yet a different one, it's kind of like Russian Roulette with our local surgery. Anyways, she's writing me an RX for the 10 mg tablets, so that, in combination with my 20's and a handy pill chopper will do for a start. She seems to think I'll be off it in a month. Ha, ha. Plus I have an appointment with the allergist, and I'll ask him if the citric acid is a serious issue or a minor annoyance.
Meanwhile, when I get the RX refilled I'll talk to the pharmacist and find out if there is a compounding pharmacist anywhere near here, or if there's a version of the liquid that doesn't have citric acid in it.

Fun. This site has been so much help, I'm so glad I found it

Hmmm, bad news, the pharmacist says they don't make the liquid version without citric acid.
grumble grumble.
Plan B then.
