10 MG
Hey everyone! This has been a Godsend board for me!
I'm going to start the "weaning" process very very soon. I'm hoping to get pregnant this summer and want to have my body/system COMPLETELY free of this horrible drug before I conceive. I was planning on alternating 5 mg every other day--on the off day, take the full 10 mg. Then, go down to 1/2 pill every day then every other day, etc. Has anyone weaned themselves off of 10mg and how were the side effects? I've been on as high as 40 mg at one point but I do definitely suffer (have the floating sensation) if I miss an entire dosage. |

Re: 10 MG
welcome to paxil progress!!!..you will want to follow the tapering spreadsheet on our website..
http://www.paxilprogress.org/forums/...ad.php?t=22916 alternating is a BAD way to go..the best way is a 10% reduction every 3-4 or even 6 weeks..so if you are on 10 right now...then you will cut it by 10% and stay there for a while..TRUST ME ..you want to have the least amount of withdrawal as possible..and going that route you have..will just make it horrible..

Re: 10 MG
From our experience your weaning plan is NOT a good way to go. With paxil's short half life, consistent daily dosing is key. Do NOT skip doses, alternate days or alternate doses. Liquid is the best way to go, but if liquid is not an option, decrease by 2.5 mg....wait 4-5-6 weeks, then decrease by another 2.5mg, repeat until off
The best way to minimize withdrawal is to reduce your dose by 10% every 4-5 weeks...this does require liquid.

Re: 10 MG
People here will tell you that that is not the best way to taper. I was gonna do my taper that way too...until I looked a littel further into things and got some great advice form the people here. I does work for some, but not for all. Anyways---I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors--and you are not on a very high dose either. BTW- how long have you been on Paxil 10mg?

Re: 10 MG
Thanks all for your replies. I've been on 10 mg for probably about 2 years but on Paxil since 2000.
So you can get Paxil in a liquid form?? I was wondering how to reduce by 10%! |

Re: 10 MG
yes..you can get it in the liquid if you live in the USA..if not you can go to a compounding pharmacy and get them to compound the pills for you..to your exact dose you need...LCRAWFORD get this done...she is doing the slow taper and doing very well..

Re: 10 MG
This makes it easier!
http://www.paxilprogress.org/forums/...ad.php?t=22916 Basically you would go from 10mg-9mg-8.1mg and so on, leaving 3-4-5 weeks in between.
