Are you better in the morning or night?

I've read quite a few people talk about morning panic. Maybe I am in the minority but practically all of my panic attacks happen at night. In fact when I wake up in the morning I typically feel great. Then throughout the day I might have minor anxiety but again, not bad. I swear like clockwork once it starts to get dark out it sets in. Back when I was at my worst (before paxil) I would stay up all night because I absolutely couldn't sleep while having bad anxiety. As soon as the sun started rising and the light was coming in through my window I was able to drift off. I know it has a lot to do with the actual dark but as I kid I was never afraid of the dark. Now I'm 25 years old and have to sleep with the hallway light on, lol.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

I've always done better at night since this nightmare began. If I have a good "window" it is always at night. I dread waking up in the morning with anxiety and feeling like general crap. I long for the day when I can wake up with out the panicky doomed feeling.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

My symptoms are worse at night into the early morning - early morning (about 7:00 a.m. or so) is the worst. I think this has to do with changes that occur in circadian rhythms (or to endocrine levels that normally change during this period of the circadian cycle being awry in in w/d).

All my life, even as a child, I felt better (and also happier!) at night rather than during the day. In w/d that's turned upside down.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Morning is the worse for me. This morning and yesterday, I woke up with head pain that Advil takes the edge of but doen't take away. My anxiety has slowed down considerably.

Focus your attention on the here and now. Recognize it for what it is: the one moment of the only life you will ever have that you truly possess. Rare is the individual who has come to completely accept that the past is no more than a memory and the future an assumption about unborn events.

I am worst in the night and in the very morning when I wake up. The daytime is the best, I start getting dizzy and irritated in the evening.. I am however very depressed when i wake up. Will get better in the day.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Mine is much worse in the morning. I feel best after the sun goes down.

I used to hate the winter months and eagerly awaited the longer days of summer, but not anymore. It's like I have reverse SAD.

Lisa, are you telling me that those feelings go away! Thank God and thank you for posting that. I'm not like that every morning but I'm down on my self to-day. I have to give myself a mental kick in the a$$ now.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Since finding these boards, they have helped me so much. Scottys dedication to this 'cause' is very amazing and admirable.

My hell all begain when i had insomnia due to my boss/dentist that I LOVED DEARLY like a dad, passed away. I couldn't sleep, and my doctor gave me HALCYON. That was the very beginning of my hell. It plunged me into the deepest darkest depression that existed, and that was almost 20 years ago and i'm still reeling from it. Halcyon has been banned since, now i know why.

Anyway, started Paxil around 1993
tried tapering twice and mixing St. Johns wort is NOT the thing to do.

I am praying and am going to taper very slowly like these people are. I am so happy to know that i am not alone.
My husband of 28 years tomorrow is very supportive, but doesn't understand in the least, and so these boards are what keeps me going.
I am going to taper very slowly, even though i am impatient, and want to hurry and get this crap out of my system, to HOPEFULLY lose some of the 60+ LBS that i have gained in the past ten years, due to the paxil i'm sure.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Currently, at night I feel no symptoms at all, I feel normal. During the day, well, now I have some psychological things going on, but they might go away like all the other 347541 symptoms.
But it wasnt like this before. Night and day could be demonic.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Mornings are hell for me and set the tone for the day. I've had a lot of bad days lately, but I'm sure it's partly due to the holiday and my son's major setback with his recovery. Nights I'm usually stable. But I'm going to three al-anon meetings a week for the next two weeks and if I felt comfortable driving further probably more. They help keep me stable. But each morning it starts over again and it's been a little worse the last two or three weeks. Getting out of bed has been a real struggle usually paralyzed with fear and doom and everything bad that is going on or might happen.

Am I better? I would say I am now traumatized by the withdrawal. The depression is constant and deep, but not suicidal. Can sleep, but now always tired.

Re: Are you better in the morning or night?

Mornings were hellish for me - waking up in a state of panic, writhing around in agony. This has improved now and I don't have much of a difference throughout the day although sometimes feel more agitated around midnight.
