I have the flu now...

The real flu...not even a med induced one...and I still have brain damage from these meds...I wish I could push a button and die...I can't suffer like this anymore...

After a decent recovery for about 16 months, I ruined it by binge drinking and now I'm back on psychiatric medications but I'm withdrawing again. I'm down to 750mg Depakote ER and .5mg ativan. Please remember to avoid all alcohol and caffeine (GABA affecting agents) forever in the future after you are done withdrawing!

Oh I should add here, because SSRIs block the bodies ability to detox, then susceptibility to viral infections, flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, ear infections is quite common ..so drink lots of fluids and look into methods that will help your body detox and help your spleen /lymphatic system.

Yup many of use feel like that..the withdrawal symptoms becomes too much to handle..it becomes an issue of pure brute endurance

Remember June 2007 is only 7 months ago.....so hang in there..whats important at this time and for future" episodes..is to develop coping skills and routines to help you through this..otherwise you just going to end up back on the drugs..and I assume that your tired of that ..right.

So steel your resolve..try to focus on the larger picture. meanwhile..WHAT are you doing to help yourself other than stopping to take these meds?

Regards, Johnny

Re: I have the flu now...

Zant, did you decide to start taking something again? I can't remember.

As Johnny stated, it hasn't been very long since you stopped and again, because I can't remember, how many drugs did you come off of and how fast? As you know, these are contributing factors in how you feel.

Having the flu exacerbates everything, but it's most definitely not hopeless.

Zant, I have tears for you. I know that feeling about suffering. I just had an infection and had to take antibiotics and it's made w/d so awful it feels like torture. I'll pray for you.

Started Paxil 2000 for post partem anxiety
Happily on it until it pooped out 2/07
Started cutting down way too fast 7/07
from 20 mg. to 10 mg. and got very sick.
Found PP, went back to 13 mg.
Waited and waited and never stablized.
Began slow wean, down to 7 mg. over a year. Never felt well.
Trashed the paxil at 7 mg. in Aug. '08.

Re: I have the flu now...

I had the flu and pneumonia a few weeks ago and literally felt like I had been run over and scraped back up. I decided that it was God telling me to take it easy and stop trying to do so much. Take care of yourself - this too shall pass.
