A tangible reason for wanting to taper
I am now typing with a cast on my right arm. I broke my wrist while skating on new years eve. In the summer I landed teeth first while mountain biking and was lucky to get to keep my two front teeth. As I sat waiting to see a doctor to put a cast on I thought why am I having all these accidents? I am good at sports and this NEVER used to happen to me. Is it because I am getting older or because I need more safety gear? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks..my brain is not as coordinated with my body as it used to be and I am a lot more accident prone. This makes me sad and MAD. I miss being good at sports, though I never realized I was, now I see how I need to have an extra awareness when doing activities that require dexterity and grace. So at last I have a tangible thing I want to get back to. hurrah.

Re: A tangible reason for wanting to taper
You're definitely not as graceful on this stuff, that's for sure. Although, I'm sure the age thing plays some role
I'm glad you found your tangible reason!

PPD
I think you're absolutely right! There was aa news report this past summer about how these drugs increase your chances of being in an automobile accident that's your fault. Only advice I have is to take it slow.

Charlie also has some reports about how that the elderly on these drugs are much more likely to fall.

Re: A tangible reason for wanting to taper
Hmmm been trying to find a place to put my 2 cents, about why I am here... I have been reading & reading everyone's posts... THANK YOU !!!!
My side effects this last time from paxil were horrific... headaches, vision changes (BAD vision changes) my skin kept breaking out big time, my teeth hurt, terrifying nightmares and both wrists hurt constantly. These were the phsycially painful... the emotional thing was that I felt nothing. Nothing at all. Couldn't cry, and nothing made me smile or laugh after I was on it for about 6 weeks. I wasn't as anxious or having the OCD symptoms... it was like I was out of my own body. All this bad stuff on 10 mg. of Paxil. Did I mention the increased appetite?! Here I am, 10 lbs heavier, now dieting yet again which is never easy at 47 years old. The first 2 days after I stopped taking it I felt better phsycially... and the dr. is not happy with my decision, neither is my therapist, but they can go fly. I thought I was the only one having these reactions... after reading alot of things here, I KNOW I not crazy or imagining these things. |

Re: A tangible reason for wanting to taper
I started a thread about this called 'accident-prone' when I noticed I was doing silly things like cutting my fingers.

Re: A tangible reason for wanting to taper
At times during the last three years I have had to concentrate in order to walk steady so it doesn't suprise me that doing much more difficult activity can cause you trouble at times. This is one symptom that has been very slow to improve but I trust it will eventually.
