Paxil to Lexapro to Pexeva???

I tapered from 40 mg of Paxil and tried Lexapro out for the last 6 months. Lexapro didn't really work out for me so I'm just about to taper off down from 30 Mg. Lexapro was cake compared to Paxil to taper from but now my Doctor wants me to try Pexeva. What the heck is Pexeva?????

It's a Paxil clone. LarryJ takes it and is currently tapering off of it now. It's just like Paxil, only different fillers.

Re: Paxil to Lexapro to Pexeva???

You might enjoy this! It's actually a pretty chilling read. I had a feeling Sarafem was an AD, but I didn't know it was Prozac. And Pexeva is at the very end of this. BTW, this guy talks about Paxil CR as the most useless crap ever. But it's an eye-opener, because other drug companies are coming out with drugs that have the same identical poison as big pharma, but different fillers, thus they are different enough to not be considered a generic, or a substitute on insurance.
Enjoy this (boy, am I being facetious here!)

Yes...same junk different name! Pexeva is paroxetine mysalate rather than paroxetine hydrochloride (Paxil).

I think this one is trying to gain some ground in the market as it seems lots of free samples have been given to doctors. I know thats how I got started on it. The doctor gave me a free bottle before I even left the office!

Insurance companies HATE this one though as there is no exact generic equivalent. (Thats the whole marketing point ) Even though its Paxil for all intents and purposes, since the fillers are different, the drug is techincally "different" and as such the pharmacy cannot give generic Paxil as a substitute.

OMG I LOVED this part:

Which leads to the question, why would any doctor ever write a prescription for Pexeva?

Because they're a dumba$$, that's why. And if a Pexeva prescription is ever handed to you, tell your doctor I said so.

What a classic line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Focus your attention on the here and now. Recognize it for what it is: the one moment of the only life you will ever have that you truly possess. Rare is the individual who has come to completely accept that the past is no more than a memory and the future an assumption about unborn events.
