Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
Its has not been fun, thats for sure. This is what Ive experienced at different times on a daily basis:
a little more depressed tiredness feeling achy stomachaches, naseua weird dreams at night sensitivty to cold/heat, and noise feeling irritable The infamous "zaps" I never did the slow taper because by the time I learned about it I had already been off it a couple days and didnt want to back track, maybe this wouldnt have been as hard if I did. It hasent been completely unbearable, Ive been able to go to work everyday except one. Its been uncomfortable but there have also been periods where Ive felt better than I did before I stopped. Lots of ups and downs. I came close to taking it again but Im going to try to take it day by day. Ive loaded myself up with every supplement Ive read about: Vit B,D,fish oil, liver tablets, magnesium, a multi vit., 5 HTP, noni juice, and Ive been eating salmon every day. Ive also used benadryl and dramamine during the wurst of it. Im still taking wellbutrin from before and my Dr started me on a low dose of klonopin. I hope this is helpful to anyone trying to quit.

Re: Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
Hi paxilmania- cold turkeying did not treat me very well. I have had a very devastating time of it. I wish you very well and hope that you will have an easier time of it.
Remember that going back on and doing a slower taper is an option if it becomes unbearable, and one that I have often wished did not get away from me. my best to you, akaenew

This is a bit of an experiment for me so Im trying to learn all I can, and keeping in the back of my mind I may need to do more tapering if these withdrawals do not stop.

5HTP is contraindicated for several months after withdrawal from SSRIs due to risk of seratonin syndrome. B vitamins are stimulating and can aggravate anxiety.
And, as a recovering Klonopin addict, I'd advice you to proceed with caution there. You can become physically dependent in as little as two weeks if you take it every day, no matter how small the dose.

Re: Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
paxilmania- my withdrawal has been horrific. if you go to the thread that presents withdrawals to researchers and then proceed about half way through it you will see what I felt like at 6 months. Look at the "sticky" threads at the top of the subject page.
At 18 months I am just starting to see some substantial relief. Some still experience problems with slow tapers- I don't think it can be considered a guarantee. But at least if you taper, you won't always be wondering if a lack of taper is why you are suffering so much. Also you might find you suffer very little with a taper- those that have tapered will be better able to comment on this. let me know if you can't locate that thread...... I'll be here a while longer. akaenew

Re: Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
What you've done is a slow cold turkey......tapering slowly is tapering 10% of your dose every 4 - 6 weeks. Tapering 20 mg to 0 mg in 3 weeks is still considered cold turkey. If I were in your situation I'd get back on 10 mgs and see if things settle down in a week or two. You got on this stuff bout the same time as I did and that many times means it's worse withdrawal, maybe not though. But, taking more time to come off is so much better, you don't have to put yourself through horrendous stuff. Yes, it takes longer, but you can still have a life is you go slowly. Read more on this site and PLEASE reconsider going back on to do a slower taper.
Keep us posted. Betsy

Re: Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
Be careful with the supplements!!! And remember that it's only been a week...pay attention to your body's signals...and get back on quickly if things start to go south. And I agree about the klonopin...probably not a great idea at all. Just gonna create more problems for you over time. And BTW, major withdrawl symptoms started with me at the 2 week mark one time when I tried to CT. It was horrible to say the least.

Re: Its been a little over a week since I had any paxil
This morning when I woke up was the wurst I had felt yet. You would think withdrawal would get better after seven days without paxil but it got worse. There was a major dip. My emotions were becoming out of control and I felt like I had a really bad flu.
Ive decided to take the advice of those of you who have already been there. So Yes, I took 2.5 mg today and feel much calmer. Im going to taper more slowly.

Sweetie, you are only feeling the tip of the iceburg. It gets MUCH worse, and lasts months. I think you are wise to go back on a small dose and go slower. I'm in poop out, so I don't have that option, but if I did, I would.

When you experience withdrawal symptoms, while still taking the drug. Basically it's reaching tolerance and not getting the positive effect from the drug, regardless of dose.
