Paxil <-> Generic. Have you ever switched?
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has experience with switching from generic paroxetine to gsk's brand drug (Paxil/Seroxat) . I was switched from german generic Ratiopharm-Paroxetine to original gsk's and I'm having major vertigos and sort-of withdrawal symptoms. I haven't yet figured out what hour should I take it to minimize the discomfort. Do you have any expereinces with switching from a generic to brand paroxetine or vice versa ? |

Most of us here, at one time or another, switched to generic and never had any problems. There are those though, who do have a problem switching to generic.
Do you take it the same time as you took the generic?

Re: Paxil <-> Generic. Have you ever switched?
A few years ago, Paxil CR had some serious issues and everyone had to make a switch to generic paxil. I did. I had no problems at all. Some people are more sensitive and did have some issues. Most of the time that resolved itself.
HOWEVER, since that time, there are more companies making the generic these days. What we have seen is an increasing amount of reactions over the last year or so to the switch. This has been particularly true of 'loxamine' in New Zealand. It is possible that you can switch pharmacies and get a different brand of generic that may agree with you better. It is also possible that you will eventually adjust.

Re: Paxil <-> Generic. Have you ever switched?
i take paxil, brand or generic for years.
it's the only drug that works for me, but for the past years, 20mg seemed like to much for me. I am too sensitive to noises, but even more motion (I can't use plane for example) and I have severe vertigo. I take it as a part of deal and don't worry about it much. Cause nothing's worse than depression itself. But now, 3rd week from being switched from generic to brand, I experience things I didn't know before - like jaw spasm, headache, notable speech problems, difficulty concentrating, increased anxiety attacks, even rare derealization. I never figured out when to take paxil/seroxat) to minimize the bunch of problems it causes me. What do you prefer? And do you take it after meal, before, or in between ? |
