CELEBRITY REHAB

It really p's me off when ever I think that these celelbrities are here because of their own preferred drug/alcohol intake. They are taken here given everything they need and are not paying a cent. They are than sent to another 3 month HOTEL all inclusive which again is paid by other's.

What about people like us that did not want to be addicted to a drug (where never told it was addicting)? Would it not be nice to have people areound you that were going through the same thing (PAXIL W/D). Having wake up call, group therapy, breakfast, therapy, lunch, therapy, diner, therapy,tv time, bit*hing time, free use of group phone, beddie bye call etc. Than to wake up the next day and be catered to all over again.

These people should stop their complaining!!!

I do tune into it every once in a while to see if anyone has really taken it seriously and straightened their life out. But no everytime I it's just the same old crap

Re: CELEBRITY REHAB

I can't say much for this show, but addiction, of any kind, is a serious matter. Yes, people choose to take an illegal substance, but no one chooses to become an addict. And, regardless of their celebrity, they're in need of seious help.

Re: CELEBRITY REHAB

Pokie,

I am right there with you. These celebrities don't take anything seriously because most of them either leave in the middle of rehab or go right back to their old habits when its done! They don't appreciate anything because they have ad everything handed to them so if they were to be treated like an ordinary Joe off the street...they would lose it !!!

Re: CELEBRITY REHAB

You have a right to be angry not only about the lack of support for SSRI withdrawal, but more so, about the outright denial of SSRI withdrawal by science, the medical community, physicians, and pharmaceutical companies - including the ultimate insult, "this is your 'original' condition coming back."

Celebrities I can't comment on except to say that if we the public did not buy media about celebrities, no one could make money producing it. Our lives are far more important than theirs.

But addiction is a different matter -- highly complex, with a myriad of causes, a myriad of responses that affects a huge group of people besides the addict. I am not ok'ing any addict's behavior, but the two types of drug experiences are too unique to be compared. I have personal experince with addiction through a relative.

Finally, cushy though it may appear, it is unlikely that many people would want to trade places with any of these people who are so desparate and out of touch that they would put themselves on worldwide display.

Re: CELEBRITY REHAB

There are many authentic books on addiction if you want to learn about it. One of the best is Broken, by Cope Moyers, the son of journalist Bill Moyers. Cope and his father also made an award winning series in the late 90s that aired on PBS that can be ordered from PBS.

Another book just released is My Beautiful Boy, by journalist David Sheff, is about the addiction of his son, Nic. Nic has also written a book and both gained insight into the other through their books. "When one of us tells the truth, he makes it easier for all of use to open our hearts to our pain and that of others."

i completely agree, i think it totally un-newsworthy to hear of celebs wallowing in their drink/drug crazed lives.

Agreed. No one wants to be addicted to drugs. Yes it's their choice so I have less sympathy for them than say someone with cancer but still it's a hard life to live and a lot of people struggle immensely with drugs and want nothing more than to be done with them.

Re: CELEBRITY REHAB

I saw a feature about this show on ET a few weeks ago, and one of the actors (can't recall now which one) who's on the show admitted that he exaggerated his responses when the cameras were on. What he said was, in essence, "Hey, I'm an actor, what do you expect?"
