finally made it to zero!!!
I have been off paxil for one week now and I have to admit that i was scared of making the final drop, but it has been okay so far. I just have anger that is really exaggerated AND I'm PMSing... double wammy. I've been trying to get off this s@%# for a year exactly as my last dose was 4-7-08
My doctor said that that was how "she weaned" people off paxil. Yeah, she has obviously no idea what she is talking about. I wonder what her success rate is. Just horrible. She wanted me to drop 10 miligrams of paxil and just replace it with prozac because "it's the same thing" excepte prozac has the longer half life. If I did that, I would for sure have lost my mind. So I just got a pill cutter and basically tried to go down about a miligram at a time waiting about 6-8 weeks in between. Anyways, I feel exhausted, moody and crazy sometimes, but deep down I'm exstatic to be off this poison. Now to lose the 30 pounds I put on while being on this stuff, but that's a whole other topic. ![]() |

Re: finally made it to zero!!!
Poop out is when one experiences withdrawal symptoms while still taking the drug. This is something that we have discovered here on PP, and it seems to be an inevitable part of ssri use. The body has basically overcome the effects of the drug by altering other methods. ie. High serotonin at the nerve synapsis' in the brain from paxil....the body starts producing less serotonin to get things back in balance.
In our experience raising the dose of the drug only brings short term temporary relief once the body has reached poop out. The timing on poop out is very individual. Some hit it in a few years, others go 10 years before it's a problem. It's when this happens that we see people adding a second or even third drug in an attempt to feel better. Sadly, it usually only makes things worse.

Re: finally made it to zero!!!
OMG!!! Thank you SOOOOOOOO much for all of your replies!! I need them so much right now. This has been a ruff week, but totally doable. I have felt so unreal and manic that it's uncomfortable. It's like word vomit, I don't have control over what comes out of my mouth or my emotions. It's so uncomfortable. I have about five days off work right now and I only had to work 2 days this week, thank GAWWWWWDDDD!!! This kinda happened to me in my last drop and it lasted about a week. I feel like I have so much energy, but I feel to uncomfortable with myself to use it. Weird!! Anyways, thank you so much for all of your kind words and encouragement, I really needed them!!

Re: finally made it to zero!!!
Word vomit! LOL!!! I'll be using that one!
Mania is common, I had it after certain drops too. I don't know how much was self induced, or how much was Paxil, but it will even out.
