Quick question about withdrawal.

Hello, it has been awhile since I last posted on this forum, but I had a quick question dealing with the subject of withdrawal.

Five weeks ago I came off of 25mg Paxil cold turkey, the first 2-3 weeks were pretty brutal, but not nearly as bad when I went cold turkey off of 50mg for one week due to me forgetting my Paxil at my apartment once. Well, I don't necessarily feel any withdrawal symptoms like I did in the first two weeks, but I do not feel well. It feels as if everyday I do not have the energy to get up and do things, so I don't. I stay in bed all day long. If I do get up, which I really want to, I start to feel very weak and fatigued, but no brain zaps, headache, dizziness, or nausea. I do feel sensitive to warm temperatures and this can make me feel nauseated, but could what I'm explaining be from withdrawal?

I was prescribed Paxil for my Social Anxiety, so I could function in daily life, but now I do not feel well and can't function anyhow, anyone else experience this and have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brent

Re: Quick question about withdrawal.

Hi Brent,

Well, to c/t off 25mg, I'm not surprised your not feeling well, and unmotivated. You need to restart back on and taper more slowly. It has now become a recognised fact that c/t off a/ds can be dangerous.

Go back on, even if its only 20mg and taper 10% after 3-6 weeks.
It is 10% of your current dose each time you wean, never any more.

Look around this site, and you will read others experiences of doing what you have done, and you will find they had no success doing this either.
The only way to feel better, is as i have suggested, go back on and wean properly, these drugs are not candy, they are chemicals, mind altering chemicals that alter the way we think, the way we feel etc, in fact every part of our body and mind is altered by these drugs

Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Quick question about withdrawal.

Brent, you're experiencing w/d, plain and simple. Going cold turkey is NEVER recommend for the very reasons you're describing.

I would consider going on regular Paxil, gettting stable, and tapering - slowly - from there. Don't make yourself needlessly suffer.

Re: Quick question about withdrawal.

Please don't do this to yourself. I'm a terrific example of why you should not go off this stuff CT.

I don't know how long you were on Paxil -- not in your siggy -- but however long you should taper.
