5th day on 15mg

it is my 5th day on 15mg.
Aside from feeling like crap all day, as soon as I try to get to sleep, I am awoken by jolts through my body. These are so severe, I wake up in panic, and cannnot sleep. Its been about 2 or 3 days, and I have gotten maybe 6 hours of total sleep. It is so severe now, as soon as I feel myself falling asleep, I get this jolt through my body, and sense of doom. I am used to about 8 hours of sleep per night. When I was working, I would go to bed at about 9, and wake at 4:30. I was so beat at the end of the day from my job, I would sleep like a baby most nights.

Please tell me this is just withdrawal, and not permanent CNS damage. Its like my body knows that I am about to fall asleep, and jolts.

Re: 5th day on 15mg

I am SURE that this is due to withdrawal - and very disturbing it is. Please try not to panic about it, because it WILL get better as your body adapts to your new dose level. Do remember to let everything stabilise before you make another drop - in my case at least 3 weeks. I know that the first week is always the worst, and have become used to it, and try to make time for it!

Even if you can't sleep, and I've spent whole nights on the computer, or listening to the radio (quietly) in a darkened room, you can try to relax - use a particular technique that suits you if it helps - and your body will carry you through the next day even if you didn't actually manage to sleep as soundly as you usually do.

Please take heart and stick with your taper. We are here for you xxxxxxx

Re: 5th day on 15mg

Do you feel like you cant get any relief? This is so hard to describe. I feel like I am in a constant overtrained state. How you would feel if you did way way too much exercise. like my head is just numb, and I feel I cant catch my breath. Sleeping doesnt feel good, and I dont feel refreshed afterwards. This has to be my CNS

Re: 5th day on 15mg

I was on 25mg CR for 4 years. I cut down to 17.75 for about a week, then 12.5 for a week or 2, then 6.25 for 2 weeks. 1 week at 6.25, I started getting withdrawal. I stayed there for about a week, waiting for a doc apt, and Thurs night, I took 20mg, then 15mg for the past 5 days (reg paraxotine)

Re: 5th day on 15mg

Because of your quick taper, you're suffering w/d symptoms. You're only on day five of updosing and it can take several weeks for the drug to kick back in.

Re: 5th day on 15mg

We ALL want to get off our SSRIs as quickly as possible, but you have to be reasonable and understand that wanting to is not enough. You have to have patience - sometimes for a very long time - and the strength of character to follow a plan.

Please try to stabilise at a reasonable dose and THEN taper ...... slowly. The plan on this site works well for me. I hope it will do for you too.

Re: 5th day on 15mg

you have to go slower on the taper. I too had to learn the hard way.
