question for anxiety sufferers
Ok here it goes........this may sound confusing, and believe me it is. I am going to try as best I can to explain. Currently I am having anxiety and thoughts that I don't understand, I can't seem to pinpoint what is bothering me. Its almost like I am afraid I can't handle this life, I have weird thoughts of being afraid of my own thoughts, this confuses me and I can't seem to "think" my way out of it. Is this anxiety? I doubt and question everything and it leaves me feeling uneasy. To the point that I feel there just has to be something else wrong with me. I fear getting up in the morning because of my confusing, irrational thoughts and feelings. Sometimes I wish I could shake myself and say "what is your problem!" anyways just wanted to know if anyone has ever been though this.

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
While some anxiety sufferers have jumbled, scary thoughts and they can't seem to rationalize things just because of the nature of anxiety, you have to remember that your brain is in chemical chaos right now. Those thoughts are just thoughts. They are not reality. The quicker you can learn to observe those thoughts, throw out the one's that scare you or don't make a lick of sense, the better perspective you will be able to adapt going through withdrawal.
Its just your brain in chaos. Plain and simple. Things will all settle down eventually.

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
that's defo anxiety, I can relate 100%. Whether its paxil related or just your symptoms returning doesnt make much difference, its still anxiety, its perfectly normal for an anxiety sufferer to have these kinds of thoughts, I know its not easy but the more you can accept them / pay them no respect the less they will bother you!

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
As Lisa above stated. Its just your brain misfiring. Acknowledge the thoughts and let them go. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure them out.

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
Buddha calls it the "monkey mind." And it does get worse in withdrawal. This hypersensitive state may continue on after discontinuation. Eckhart Tolle's books are great for learning to quiet the monkey mind and live in the present moment. It just takes practice, but it is possible. I'm living proof of that.

I agree, 'the power of now' is an incredibly powerful book, its not an easy read, you have to 'study' it and keep at it, I have been reading it over and over again and it has made a big impact on me...

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
inlimbo - meditation - just focusing on the breath can really help calm that nonsense down. Have you tried it?

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
It is what your brain goes through in WD....it is totally AD related. Things will eventually settle down, and as Julie said, acknowledge the thought, then let it go....

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
yeah classic anxiety. I have this bad. You have to try and not engage with the thoughts as, although your mind persuades you that you can find an answer in your head, you can't.

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
minimally...I've been doing it more though since it has gotten so bad. It does work I must say. Maybe the better i get at the meditation (or the more I do it) it will come as second nature. I have to work at it. I have to work at a lot of things, like getting off this poison.

Re: question for anxiety sufferers
I have to say that I understand what Hranee is saying.and we really don't know if her's is "just wd". I had and have quite a bit of anxiety (one of the reasons I started paxil in the first place). I still don't know if I'll be able to "function" without paxil or something like it. I have had lots of times when I've felt like my mind is running in place. its a weird and scary thought. If paxil isn't the answer, then I don't know what is. but anyway, hranee, I understand how you feel. been there a lot in my life. I honeslty don't have an answer for you but hopefully it is just withdrawal and you'll be over the hump soon.
