Blur between dream state and awake state

Hi,

I have been on the 5 mg dose of Paxil for about a week now. Last night was the first time (since I lowered the dose from 6.25 mg to 5 mg) that I wasn't able to sleep. As I was lying there in the middle of the night ( I thought I was awake) and I thought I heard my 2 1/2 year old son walking into the room. I look but nobody is there. Then I still thought he was there but just hiding (because I could hear little sounds). I couldn't distinguish if he was really there or if I was dreaming it (or hallucinating).

After half an hour or so as I was drifting to sleep and again, I thought my son was at my bedroom door. This time I was certain of it. I thought he was just waiting there not making any sound (which would be strange for a 2 1/2 year old). I was listening and every little sound I heard sounded like it was him just hanging around there. Then I started to panic and thought I was going crazy. I think that this might be due to Paxil withdrawal.

Re: Blur between dream state and awake state

This was pretty much my experience the whole time I was on Paxil and clonazepam. I had a very hard time distinguishing between sleep and wakefulness, and would often spend hours lying in bed but later not be able to tell or remember whether I'd been asleep or awake during that time, nor able to distinguish dreams from reality. It went away off the meds, thank God.

Re: Blur between dream state and awake state

Oh how I hated not being able to figure out whether I was awake or dreaming. I had some crazy Paxil dreams both while on and during withdrawal.

Don't worry, once you get off Paxil completely it'll go away.

Re: Blur between dream state and awake state

it's funny - I used to have to ask myself whether I was sleeping or awake.
Sometimes I would ask when I was sleeping, sometimes when I was awake.
