Scared of withdrawal

Hi all, Ive been reading some comments on getting off Paxtine.
I once went cold turkey on doctors advice, I thought I was a nut case before but that experience was scary.Think Ive got the wrong doc.
Im on 40mg a day so looks like there is a battle ahead.
Home life is pretty crap and dont think I can go off this crap and stay here.
Thats enough for now,
Bye

Don't be scared of withdrawal, if you listen to peoples advice on here you can do it and still maintain a functional life. It's a matter of taking it nice and slow! When you are ready to start tapering off, just ask for help on here and you will get the best advice ever!!

Kenny,
Look at my signature ugh! I C/T doctors advice-thought I was a nutcase too. Than tapered down from 20mgs down to 8mgs could not function. Now I am at 40mgs so when I attempt to taper again I have a long way to go also. I am with you at 40mgs as are some others. Some people have a harder time than others as we have noticed. I am so happy for others who are able to taper and get past it hopefully our time will come.
P/S-Good luck to Gibby's husband.

Re: Scared of withdrawal

Take it very very slowly, do the slow taper recommended here, and listen to your body. It is going to take me a long time too, but I would rather take a long time and eventually get there, than not try at all.

Re: Scared of withdrawal

had communication business in mildura for 10 years,93-2002.
went great for most of it,wrecked knee at work, tried to keep things going, had a partial knee replacement, it went terribly wrong.
joined up with a mate to keep things afloat.
i worked my guts out for the new company then my implant broke.
while i was in hospital they conspired to replace me.
my accountant fiddled the books and pinched 20k from me and left me with a 300k tax bill.
knee went again and had 3rd partial knee replacement in 2005.
lost the house,car,went bankrupt.
best mate died from cancer in a terrible way,a cruel death for a great bloke.
constant pain and trouble walking and i've just about had enough.
felt like a complete loser and couldn't stop crying and thinking of killing myself.
went to the doc and he put me on paxtine.
probably saved my life but i hate the feeling of being detached from my body and lately things have got worse.
sorry to sound like i feel sorry for myself.
i go to bed hoping i wont wake up.
i feel terribly lonely and i hope i feel better tommorow

Re: Scared of withdrawal

It doesn't matter how long it takes - it's getting there all in one piece that does.

Go as slow as necessary and you'll do it and be glad that you did!
