Can we focus on Good Experiences please?
The majority of this website deals with the negative consequences of people taking and trying to wean off Paxil. This wee silver lining in the cloud is supposed to be a section for people who are having good experiences with Paxil. This is the section that keeps me coming back to this site.
Maybe there aren't a lot of us out there who are supporters of Paxil and don't dream of suing the very company who has helped us lead tolerable lives. But can we keep this section open for those of us who are, and leave the negativity to all the other sections? |

I'm glad things are going well for you!
Hi, Debbie. I am glad that you are having positive experiences and getting relief from the problems that made you take Paxil. I can understand your happiness at feeling better. What dose are you on right now? How long have you been taking Paxil and for what--depression, anxiety, OCD? How has your life changed for you? Just curious to know where you're coming from. Are you involved in therapy as well? I hope things continue to go well.

People try!
I think sometimes if the wrong button gets pressed, like..."look at all new topics", it might not show the forum. I think it's a good forum anyway. |

oh yes
This section is not leaving and will always be here. It's is an immense blessing for me to hear of someone not having a bad time with Paxil. It seems to be such a tough battle to just find a tiny bit of comfort in this whole mood/drug thing. When you and others tell me something different than my own experience, I know I personally breathe a sigh of relief because I can work a little bit less harder.
If you're in love with life, completely forgiving and accepting of all your current and past pains and Paxil seems to be the source of your great comfort, then bravo! Congratulations for finding a drug that gives you so much relieving you of having to work so hard dealing with life challenges. We all need to just breathe sometime eh? Hmm...where's that holiday I misplaced? Princess? You have it? |

Holiday? You misplaced a holiday?
I dunno if I have it, but I'll look around, see if it didn't get stuffed in a corner somewhere ;) |

My good experience
Hi I am new to this site and ahve enjoyed the posts here. I have been on Paxil for over 2 years and have been considering getting off of it. I have gained about 25 pounds but I could blame my own cooking on that!
I was very depressed and had been the majority of my adult life. I went on paxil and started to feel a bit better. A little over a year ago I started therapy. I have been given a clean bill of health by the therapist and am now on my own. I feel great. I am grateful for the help paxil has given me. Since going to therapy and taking paxil, I have cut off the majority of my family. Now that doesn't sound right does it? Well if you knew that I spent a great deal of my time trying to protect my children from my crazy relatives and now enjoy peaceful times with my husband and kids and some healthy friends you would understand the reasoning. Not everything that causes depression is an inside job. Sometimes we get surrounded by bull**** people and need to get away from them to be healthy. Hey I am a nice person who loves life and believes that we should live and let live, not live and then try to change everyone around us. Thanks for letting my say a good thing or two about paxil. here here!
Couldn't agree more JulieA. Family can be viewed as people and the same process of 'like this, don't like this' applies. I share the belief in the freedom to choose to move away from experiences I don't like. Family or not, you're still a human being and you have every right to find a more comfortable reality.
Then again, learning to be in the company of challenging people is a GREAT way to learn tolerance and acceptance! But yeah, not at the expense of abuse. Paxil did some good for me as well. It helped me see that to get a grip on anxiety and depression, moving through it instead of squashing it works in the long run. All I needed was a quick break from anxiety to see it, and Paxil did give me a break. |

good experiences with paxil
I just started paxil a few weeks ago. I am noticing a positive change in my outlook and emotions. I was absolutely driving my live-in boyfriend crazy with my anxiety and depression. He is helping me through this by being supportive and giving me time to adjust. I had been in an emotionally abusive marriage for 15 yrs and it screwed up my way of thinking. I really wasnt aware of just how depressed I was. I am in a good situation with my life now and I want to continue living better each day. [/b]

I wish you luck Rebma! It sounds like your on the right track to good health and good mental health. 15 years in a bad situation is very, very tough and it will never go away. Its something that will always be with you, but having the strength to put it in perspective, forgiving and moving on with a healthy relationship will take time and patience. Take it just one day at a time!

bad side effects
I have bad dreams everynight to where I wake up each morning soaked with my sweat. I never connected it to Paxil until recently. I would like to discontinue using Paxil, but I am nervous.

I don't blame you for being nervous. Its scary stuff. We're all here to help walk you thru it though. What dose are you on? How long have you been on it? Have you told your doctor about the symptoms you're suffering from? What does he/she say?

good experiences
Paxil helped my with my anxiety and depression. I recently had to come off of it because the weight I have gained had caused my blood pressure to go up. It was a very yucky withdrawal, but I have no regrets taking the Paxil for 2 years. I even gave birth to a beautiful child during that time. I am now on a very low dose of Zoloft. I know I need meds and I accept that.
