Can I die from CT?
Ok been without paxil for 6 days or so and trying to get a prescription so finally got through at doctors and my primary care physician who gave me prescription is no longer there so they will not give me one, told me to call my insurance change my primary doctor to one there and come in tomorrow. Call insurance and they tell me the type I have that I cannot change to the new doctor, and should go see mental health call this number and no prescription. Call the next number no prescription but an appoint on the 27th 15 days from now so I will be cold turkey from 30mg of paxil for 21 or so days. I have mild withdrawl symptoms but they do not care to give me more pills. So the lady said I should be fine till the appointment, she asked me a bunch of questions and I do feel ok as of now besides, mild shocks, stomach feelings, and the other mild things. So what if I do get bad symptoms Which I hope and feel I will not get Do I just go to emergency and sit there and waste time or what? I am so frustrated more than anything now.
Thank you, Nick |

Re: Get this
Yep. That's exactly what you do. Although, I would have asked why they can't give you at least enough pills to get you to the scheduled appt. You may want to call back and ask that question.

Re: Get this
but then again I do want to get off and be fine I feel I am strong enough and with all my support that know what is going on and no to mild withdrawl attacks. I want to believe that she is right and I will be fine and see the doctor on the 27th and go from there if I ever take a pill again, a lower dosage, or what. Thank you so much for all ther help here on this site. You all are so wonderful. So I just keep thinking that I am ok and fine, since last physical was perfect, blood work and all, and that I can be the lucky one with little or no withdrawl I hope

Re: Get this
Also the new mental health clinic I am going to on 27th she told me they work with patients on ways to deal with panic attacks like I had to get put on paxil instead of giving out pills like they did to me 7 years ago.

Re: Get this
Well, only you know what you can endure. But, if symptoms get too bad, then you need to have a plan B and it's better to be safe than sorry.
Maybe you'll be one of the blessed few who won't have a problem, but w/d symptoms can take weeks to fully manifest and it would be beneficial to you to have pills on hand, should you need them. It just doesn't make sense that, given the situation, they wouldn't call you in a script to hold you over until your appt.

Re: Get this
ty and yes one of them could of gave me a prescrip. The last chick said if I do I can call back doctors office that started the run around and tell them I have an appointment with mental health and see if they will call me one in when the already said no and started my frustrating calling process. So I am gonna stay strong and see how it goes and if worse I have cell phone and know how to use 911!

Can I die from CT?
My main question I have been trying to research is Will I die if I go cold turkey and never take another paxil ever again?

Re: Can I die from CT?
You might become suicidal or homicidal. There have been people who have never had suicidal thoughts or even psych issues who have become suicidal after a dosage change in SSRIs. Not something to tinker with thoughtlessly.

I'm going to merge this with your other thread, which is similar in nature.

We can only recommend things...it is up to you to either act or ignore...if I may ask, what have you told your roomy and awesome girlfriend to potentially expect......and not to be an alarmist but in the best interest of your safety and for those around...take a look at the thread ssri stories....most of these cases are from people going off meds cold turkey...how many times have you read in the paper or heard on the news..."He was not like this, it is totally out of character"...

Re: Can I die from CT?
I have to chime in - i was ct/ed off paxil when it pooped out. I had the worst symptoms of "mental illness" I had ever had during the taper (a week). They were out of the blue and completely out of character. Including: violent thoughts toward my beloved friends, family and pets - impulsiveness, rage, and suicidal ideation and spaceyness that made me a danger to myself and others behind the wheel. I was not warned. At least you are warned now. CT is NOT to fool around with.
I strongly recommend that you suck it up and call that first Dr's office and explain that you are having severe discontinuation syndrome and that you really need a script to tide you over as it is common knowledge that folks have problems stopping paxil abruptly. Don't let the office manager put you off. Speak to a nurse, an NP or a doctor. Do not let this go... Good luck.

Re: Can I die from CT?
Physically no it isn't going to kill you. At least if it does you will be the first I've ever heard of. It may definitely affect you mentally though. I personally did c/t and have never been homicidal but have suicidal ideation occasionally which I never did before paxil. The last thing I want is to die but sometimes it's so hard dealing with this stuff I just want it to end. Just make sure you recognize that this is the drug and NOT the real you and please tell others if you are thinking about hurting yourself or others. Just go to the hospital and tell them. They won't think you are crazy and you will get the help you need.
