Paxil Taper/Testosterone Supplement

I've been tapering off Paxil for the last few months, and haven't had any problems until recently. My alternative medicine physician is helping me get off it. He also has found my testosterone level on the low side, and is giving me 50 mg of testosterone twice a day as a supplement.

Since I've been taking the testosterone, I have trouble relaxing and feel like I'm "wired."

Has anyone else had this combination of a Paxil taper and testosterone supplement? Is it the taper being aggravated by the increased testosterone, or is it the testosterone itself?

your doctor is a idiot

is he checking your estrodiol?

are you doing cream, adrogel, shots?
testosterone is not a supplement, its a hormone

how did he test your testosterone?

Well, I wouldn't say he is an idiot.

I called the testosterone a supplement - I realize it is a hormone. It is supplementing the hormone already in my body.

He determined the low level by extensive blood work.

If things have gone downhill with the testosterone...then that's the problem.Hormone supplementation should not be taken lightly and can be extremely dangerous.

I have been on TRT therapy for a year. Just giving a patient testosterone alone is not wise

Did he tell you if you are secondary or primary hypogonadic?
Did he tell you how to treat your testicles when they start to shrink in about 4 weeks?
do you realize on testosterone alone your testicles will go to the size of raisins?
did he go over that testosterone can convert to estrogen and cause gynecomstia?

Did he check your prostate and PSA levels prior to testosterone treatment for cancer?

did he discuss the need for an aromistose inhibiter? [ AI]
did he discuss HCG use?

did he tell you the benefit and pitfalls of creams vs androgel vs shots?

did he tell you how to get off testosterone in the future?

my guess is no, he is an idiot on this topic. Few doctors know about proper Testosterone Replacement therapy?

SSRIs wreck absolute havoc on hormones. I would hold off on making any judgements about hormone levels until you have been completely off of Paxil for a while. If the testosterone supplement is making you feel bad and you were able to survive without it before, then stop taking it.

I did my entire taper without supplements or vitamins and do not take any now. I tried to take fish oil once and it made my anxiety go through the roof. Time is the only thing that is going to fix Paxil withdrawal.
