How do people work Full time and are able to seek help ?
This didnt hit me until after I landed a job. I currently attend a non-proft mental health service designed for people without insurance. I'm unsure if im eligible but in the past I have been told that once i have been accepted, I cannot be deined access. Not sure how true that is but
1) do most group insurance (work insurance) cover mental ilness? if so How do you guys find time to go ? The service im attending is a regular 9-5 place, the exact times in which i work are there evening hours or something. |

Re: How do people work Full time and are able to seek help ?
A lot of therapists have early morning/evening/weekend hours.
My therapist is in the same town as my work, so I always just ducked out for an hour during the day and then worked an hour later in the evening (cleared by my boss, of course). Whether your insurance will cover therapy totally depends on the specific insurance, but anecdotally, all of my insurances have covered at least 10 sessions/year.

Re: How do people work Full time and are able to seek help ?
It depends on the insurance. The group insurance I have now at work covers up to 20 50-minute visits per year with pre-approval and a $25 co-pay. Prior to that, when I was self-employed, my group insurance didn't cover any mental health care. Some plans will rule it out if it can be considered a pre-existing condition.
My therapist works evenings, sometimes as late as 8 p.m. I go after work, from 4:50-5:40 p.m. If you can't take off during the day or leave before 5:00, might you be able to get away on your lunch break?

Depending upon how determined you are to continue seeing the same practioner, it could be that phone counseling is an option. I've done that with my therapist when I wasn't able to take time out of my schedule to see her.
