Please read -- if you can't afford refills and need to quit!
I thought I'd offer some advice for those who have had to or are going to quit Paxil cold turkey because their insurance ran out or they can no longer can afford it -- please ask your doctor for free samples!
Most doctor's offices have supply closet's full of free samples provided by the drug reps. In fact, this is a huge problem in a lot of doctor's offices (finding places to store all those drug samples!) If you need to quit Paxil because you are running out of money or insurance, then ask your doctor for free samples. Most doctors are "more than happy" to get rid of these. All you usually have to do is ask. I'm willing to bet that a good majority of people who started Paxil, were initially given free samples by their doctors. (I know I was) No one should have to quit Paxil cold turkey! If you can't afford any more refills and need to quit talk to your doctor. He can probably give you enough free samples, that you can sensibly ration them and cut back slowly rather than quitting cold turkey. |

I agree with the idea of requesting samples in a bind. It's not fair nor safe to be forced into a quick withdrawal. I have close ties with a pharmacy technician who tells me that they often have hte task of disposing of(it's a bio hazard after all) piles of expired and unused samples, so they're out there.
