i'm at 7. I'm cutting down 30 mg pills and it's starting to get a little tricky cutting them down.

Re: how low do you go?

I'm currently at 1.5 mg - I originally was going to "jump off" from here, but I went through such a rough wave recently that I might hold off until I hit .5 mg.

Or lick the syringe as has been said before! LOL

Re: how low do you go?

I stopped at .5mg and am happy that I did it this way. There were a couple of times when I wanted to ditch it at 1 or 1.5 but made myself be patient. I've done pretty well over the past several weeks since stopping.

Re: how low do you go?

I have been wondering the same thing.
I mean at some point the dosage is so low isn't it essentially not doing anything anyway, because you need a certain plasma level to be maintained in order for it work. I really wish there was someone that really understood pharmacology that could help with this.

It also gets into the 10% thing, eventially you have taper a 100% of your dose or you'll never get off. I am at 6mgs right now, I did 1mg a month since last stabilising at 10mg the beginning of the year. Now should I a continue a 1mg a month which was 10% of my stabile dose or now switch to .5mg a month 10% of current stable dose, I mean if I keep adjusting I'll be dead before I'm done tapering.

I liken it to quiting smoking, if I tapered a pack a smokes, and I got down to 2 cigarttes a day, that would drive me more crazier than not smoking at all.
Evenually when quiting smoking you gotta bite the bullet, and throw em away.

I think at somepoint the dosage just becomes completely metabolised and non effective, but get someone tell me that dosage is the million dollar question

I really think the healing doesn't start until your completely off and some peoples brains handle it better and that if you have problems simply tapering that protracted withdrawal/healing is inevitable.

Re: how low do you go?

I'm glad somebody asked this question. I'm at 1.25mg and a bit scared to ditch also. Going to go down half this dose to .6mg when our spring arrives (I hate winter). I would also be interested to know at what dosage it becomes non-therapeutic.

Hi Jean,

I quit Remeron at about 2.6. I plan to quit my Doxepin at 2.5 as I feel the lower doses really aren't doing much. I just don't want to drop now at 4.89.and get horrific withdrawal symptoms that I would regret.

Re: how low do you go?

I think that it's also very important that when you do decide to "go for it" you choose a time when you are occupied mentally with something...be it work or a home activity.
In that way you can try to forget that you didn't take any of the stuff, and hope that perhaps psychologically just can just let it be "another day".

July'09 From 2.5mg- @ 2mg ( hot) now @1.75mg just horrid!

After nearly 3 years free....August '09 on 20mg Prozac... VERY disappointed!
