I went to my pasychiatrist and did not tell her of course that i tried to taper off my celexa, i'm now going back to 10 mgs and gonna slowly wean from their, but she said that she was leaving and moving to teacjh at Kansas University!! I asked about the drug and she said it's best if I sayed on them!! Then she said as time goes i'll have to up my dosage!! Anyone ever had their doctor just leave out of nowhere and say to keep taking the drug and eventually we will have to increase the dosage!!

This is what happens when you reach poop-out. I guess she gets half a point for acknowledging it, kind of. Did she tell you what dosage you'd need to up it to? And what if you had to up it again, and again? How high a dosage would you end up on eventually?

We see it all the time. What your doctor didn't acknowledge is that the increased dose usually doesn't work, at least not for long. That's when other drugs get substituted or added to the mix, and the psychotropic merry-go-round begins.

Remember, the clinical trials for most SSRIs last for weeks, not months or years. As many here before me have said, the experiences of those on this website ARE the long-term study, not what some doctor who gets her information from a pharmaceutical rep tells you.

Consider this a blessing in disguise. You now have the chance to search for a new doctor who will support your plan to taper. Typically when a doctor leaves practice, she will provide you with the names of colleagues who are accepting new patients; did yours do that?
