Weakness in arms, some tremor

Just thought i'd share something i've been experiencing lately to see if it sounds familiar to anyone here. I feel like my arms are vibrating ever so slightly at a very high level, and they feel kind of weak and seem to get fatigued easier than they should. I also feel like I can't hold my fingers very still at times when in certain positions. It kind of scares me because my father died of a rare illness that had similar symptoms to parkinson's but wasn't. He didn't start having problems until we was close to 60. And I know that going off SSRIs can sometimes do strange things to the nervous system. I basically took zoloft at 200mg for about 10 years. I went off it earlier this year after continuing the meds long after poop out. I tapered quickly and have been off since May. I didn't have too many issues for the first few months. Mainly some dizziness and irritability. Then about a month and a half ago I got hit with some pretty terrible anxiety and depression and derealization. This got better after a few weeks and i've been doing fairly good for the last few weeks. I also have what I think are some eye troubles - like sensitivity to light and increased notice of floaters, though i've had these issues for a while.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had these symptoms and if they passed. I don't recall noticing this too much until recently. And I can't tell if I am making it seem worse simply by worrying about what it might be.

Thanks.

Re: Weakness in arms, some tremor

Same here. I also experience trembling, shaking and cramps (mostly in hands and legs). Never had it prior to Paxil. Still, it got much better in the last 3 months. I take quite a lot of magnesium. As of the rest of your symptoms, ajm222...

anxiety-check
depression-check
derealization-check
sensitivity to light-check

Seems like a typical Paxil withdrawal. Hang in there! It will get better!

Yeah I've had this some lately too. I've known others to have it coming off ad's. Just hang in there. Unfortunately it's part of the ride. It will pass eventually.

Re: Weakness in arms, some tremor

I have something like this in my lower arms and lower legs also, but for me it only happens when I'm waking up from sleep. My fingers used to vibrate also, on awakening, but I haven't noticed that recently. I also have the eye problems.

Very often while reading my eye-balls just jump (usually horizontally) as far as from one side of the screen to the other. It's totally involuntary thing.

As a matter of fact, when writing the above post, I had this twitch somewhere around "other". It's just withdrawal, Lucy. No worry!

I have weakness in my arms and tingling (feels kind of like vibrating) also. It's the weirdest feeling in my forearms, I think because that's not something that normally "falls asleep" like hands and feet sometimes do. I have hypothyroidism and noticed that this symptom corresponded with my TSH level fluctuating (the higher the TSH, the more numbness/tingling/weakness).

It wouldn't hurt to have that checked if you can. Zoloft effected my thyroid. It used to be listed on the label as an "infrequent" adverse effect, now it's listed under "Observed in Post Marketing". Don't know how that's legal...but I digress.

Re: Weakness in arms, some tremor

thanks everyone for the reassurance. i'll chalk it up to withdrawal or long-term useand expect it to get better eventually. i also have OCD (which is why i was mainly on the ADs in the first place) so my mind can get stuck thinking about the worst scenarios. i should probably get my thyroid checked just for the heck of it. maybe a whole blood workup. couldn't hurt. i had my blood checked a few years ago and everything was normal. and i had an MRI done not too long ago for something with my eye and they didn't find anything unusual.
