Re: Can someone explain "crash" and "poop"?

Hi carla,

Welcome to paxil progress.

Poop out, or TOLERANCE, is when some can have symptoms of withdrawal on full therapeutic dose.
This means that your mind and body has become used to that dosage, and the drug is no longer working effectively.

Crash.
This happens as you taper, it means that some are doing well for some time , then symptoms show up out of the blue at an exaggerated force, which means the person then has to either 1) updose, or reduce, to get some relief.

Hope this helps, of course dont get thinking that because others have these problems, you will too, tapering doesnt work that way, for some it can cause few problems, for others it causes major symptoms.

If you taper very, very slowly, as the mods on this board suggest, then any symptoms that do show should be short lived and tolerable, making this whole exercise doable, it wont mean symptom free for most of us unfortunately.

the slower you taper ..the better off you will be..take if from me..i tapered too fast..and had protracted withdrawal 8 months after my last dose..adn it was a nightmare..i am tapering again..but going VERY VERY SLOW!..and again..everyone is different..but it makes a huge difference if you taper really slow!..and stick to that!

Re: Can someone explain "crash" and "poop out"?

A crash is a sudden onset of severe w/d symptoms. It is usually caused by tapering too quickly.

Poop-out is tolerance withdrawal. The brain is no longer fooled by the drug and withdrawal symptoms appear while still on a normal dose. Increasing the dose can alleviate symptoms in the short-term, until tolerance is reached at the higher dose.
