my thought process is in turmoil

I have mixed feelings today

the last few day's have had a good window. My thoughts go back and forth between:

1] This is all nonsense, who am I kidding? , at best I get of off lexapro and will just go back to the depression that I had prior to this medication, so I might as well just switch AD meds now, I will need one in the future anyway. CBT is b.s. , shes just taking my money and CBT cant help with dperession

OR

2] I have come a long way, Lexapro is causing this depression and once I am off it I will feel better and can re evaluate my mental health. I will continue this taper and will not suffer to much while dropping slowly On off these meds I will be much healthier

Re: my thought process is in turmoil

Well, the purpose in CBT is to learn ways of dealing with your orginal issue, without medication. If depression was an issue before medication, it can be an issue after, depending on whether your depression is chronic or was situational.

Regardless, if you believe CBT is bs and don't put forth any effort in making it work, then it won't and yes, you're throwing your money away.

If depression is an issue for you and has been for most of your life, how you treat it is something only you can decide.

Hi Matt, I remember you, you're a good guy,

I wouldn't pay for CBT. You can learn it online or from a book. If you need a mentor figure then find a guru or some such person. I don't believe in therapy anymore at all. When I was younger I would go and watch hardcore bands play and listen to the singers and the things they would say inbetween songs. This was my therapy. It still is. Nothing touches this. I went way off track thinking that I needed to see some "experts" who would know some things that could help me. All the things that built me to be the person I was before the dark night still applied. I believe this is the same for you in that you were once successful and joyful and so you have to retrace your steps before you got sidetracked into this world of psychiatric drug hell.

regards,

leo

I really wasnt trying to badmouth CBT or any treatment, my post was just trying to illustrate how these drugs play on m, how my feeling changes day to day.

Your music i your CBT, thats good. The CBT instructor I go to is a very good listener and wel trained. She has made me aware of the relationship between, thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Those 3 things are the root of everything,.

if you can change on of the above, then the other 2 will follow.

Re: my thought process is in turmoil

I think withdrawal plays these mind games with us. Thoughts and feelings change all the time. A big lesson for me is to recognise that they are only temporary. It sounds like you're doing great and on the right track.
