Weight gain

Hello everyone...

I have a few questions and would appreciate some guidance.

I started taking paxil 8 years ago (I was 25), when I first took it, I lost some weight, but over the past three years, I have gained about 40 lbs and its hard to lose it. I dont know if its from the Paxil or if its just extra weight that I have gained. I am in the process of getting off (for the past year). I am tapering with the liquid form and am down to about 2 mg. Has anyone else had this experience? Will the weight come off when I am completely off?

HELP!!!!

Re: Weight gain

Welcome!

Your situation is just like mine - I lost weight in the beginning too, about a year later, I'd gained 50 pounds. Yes, it's the Paxil and it's a well known and documented side effect.

For some, the weight comes off while tapering and for others, it doesn't come off until you're drug free. For those folks, it seems it takes about a year for it all to come off.

I lost a lot of my weight during a bad withdrawal (not recommended) and the rest once I started tapering the right way.

Re: Weight gain

Weight gain is a very common side effect. In my experience, diet and exercise don't seem to make any difference, so I'm sure it is the Paxil.
