Why don't I listen to you guys??

Not once, but TWICE since I've started my paxil taper, did I try to lower my clonazepam a bit too, ....both at the same time! The first time was aweful as I almost c/t the clonzepam and was told by you nice people to wean ONE PILL AT A TIME. Ok fine. So I resumed my normal Clonazepam and focused on the Paxil. So I am doing well on my 20mg Paxil and don't want to lower it anymore until after my holidays (mid April) . SO....WHAT DO I DO INSTEAD.......I cut back my clonazepam from 1mg to .75mg. After all, I can do it right? It's such a small amount....AS IF I will feel that tiny crumb of pill. April is so far away, I have to keep weaning SOMETHING......

Well, after about a week of this, last night I almost had a panic attack! I managed to control it and stop it but it was there, plain as day. Tingling arms and legs, very hot, feeling "not here",......

So what do I do....I go take a dose of Passion Flower. Don't go take your Clonazepam you idiot. Try something ELSE new.

I was warned by so many of you.....

So, as of today, I will NOT try to cut back or change ANYTHING until my Paxil is down to zero, even if that takes years.

I PROMISE......and if you see me doing something silly again, you can whip me with a wet noodle.

Re: Why don't I listen to you guys??

Hi Carla,

Please don't be so hard on yourself. If you're like myself and many others on here; you've been told for years (or it's been implied) by a DOCTOR that these meds are harmless and can only help you. Any negative side effects or withdrawal experiences can't be caused by the drug. Meaning; it must be in your head, it can't be all that bad and you can overcome it with will power.

Unfortunately, that's like saying you can drink as much Tequila as you want and will yourself sober before driving. But doctor's wouldn't tell us that would they. That's what makes it so much harder to comprehend; the experts tell us we are wrong...ignorant...crazy. and we've been conditioned (and our brains compromised with drugs) to believe them.

Plus, now that you know the truth...that these drugs are harmful, It's only natural to want to stop ingesting them ASAP.

You've learned your lesson. And really, trial and error is what you have to do sometimes. Now you can tell the next person trying to get off two meds what you went through.

That's a 25% drop! No wonder you felt terrible.

No need to beat yourself up. Just get back on the program. You know what to do!

Take it easy, Carla. Now you know that the slower the better. Stop flogging yourself. You're going to be fine, if you follow the schedule. Take care and keep us updated!

Carla, I'm here since 2005 but making progress. Slow is the way to get there. I too, thought that I could do it and my first cut of Paxil was 7.5mg, big mistake but I got through it and went slower from then on. Take all the time you need and you will get there. Slow and steady wins the race.
