Ahh! No Sex Drive

Ok, someone out there has to help me find a solutions to my problem. I have anxiety and panic disorder and have only finally found relief from it in paxil. Like honestly even Xanax didn't help as much as paxil has. But now I am suffering from lost libido. I am a 21 year old female who used to be obsessed with sex, and now I can't even orgasm, even when I try myself. Ahhh! This is so frustrating. I have a boyfriend who is super super hot and if I was ever going to be turned on it would be from him. Alas, my desire is lost. I know it's due to the Paxil but my Panic Disorder is too bad for me to just quit the Paxil. Plus, I'm in college and have no time to deal with coming down from the drug (as I have heard about withdrawal problems). Does anyone know of anything that could possibly help me.

I have heard that Tribulus has helped guys, but can girls use that too? And if guys usually use it when they work out I'm wondering if it has something that would speed up your heart (which would give me a panic attack). If any girls have tried this, let me know. Or any guys too for that matter. Just tell me all you know. Has anyone tried Laxapro? Can that be used if you have Panic Disorder? Or what about Wellbutrin? But I have heard that you totally can't drink with that, and I tend to like the occasional drink (I'm in college, ). Or what about creams that are supposed to increase sex drive, like Vasoplex or Vitera? Has anyone heard anything about those? And last but not least, has anyone heard of Serzone or Remeron for Panic Disorder?

Help me people please. My boyfriend is very sweet and patient and understanding. But darnit I just want to have the urge. I have the hottest guy in front of me and I don't even want to take advantage.

You really shouldn't drink with paxil either - so don't let that sway your decision away from something else that could help you. I don't know enough about which drugs help which disorder, but a psychiatrist in California has his female patients take Gingko Biloba to help with this problem. It may not be good for your panic disorder though, so check with your doctor before you try this.

My psychiatrist prescribed Buspar to help with the problem and to help with anxiety during my withdrawal but even at 4mgs my sex drive is nonexistent. Your body may react differently than mine though - other people have success with it or he wouldn't have tried it. He says there will be a "female" version of Viagra by the end of 2003 possibly but thats A LONG TIME TO WAIT. There is something new called avlamil (go to avlamil.com) but I'm afraid to try it. I saw it on a commercial. Be really careful with new products.... it isn't FDA regulated... I'm overly cautious perhaps....and there is no guarantee it can undo what paxil does.

One of my doctors used to be on paxil and could not have an orgasm to save his life. He simply switched to Prozac. I guess because he couldn't find a solution, as a doctor -( the only doctor I still have complete faith in, because he never lost faith in me and believed it was withdrawal) I wonder if there is a solution to be found ON paxil. He could have just taken the easy way out though, knowing how close paxil and Prozac are to each other chemically. Doctors can be lazy too or look for easy solutions as opposed to harder ones.

Hi,
I also used to be obsessed by sex before and my libido went to zero after my first round on prozac. After the first time on paxil it never came back to the way it was. Donīt want to scare anyone, just relating my experience. My gyno prescribed a low dose of testosterone and that helped a bit.

Still Want Sex Drive

Thanks for all your replies people. I want to stay on Paxil because it has really helped with my panic attacks and that actually outweighs my need for sex. For those of you who have had a panic attack I am sure you can relate.

Actually, you are allowed to drink while on Paxil, but you are suggested to do it moderately and be careful because sometimes with Paxil one drink makes you feel like you've had 3-5. I however don't have that problem. Drinking does help make the drive come back a bit. The warning for Paxil in combination with alochol is low while the warning for Wellbutrin and alcohol is high. I just gave up Marijuana so I don't want to give up alcohol too. I obviously am nott going to be doing any other drugs since they will all cause a horrible panic attack.

Has anyone heard of Tribulus or Viagra (the one men use) working with women? And if so does it increase heart rate or just libido? And can women take it?

Thanks everyone,

kfnheat

I've had the exact same problem. I'm a guy. ANd I used to be horny as hell every single day but after taking paroxetine for a while, my libido went downhill. After being on it for 2 years I went off it. After a few months my libido came back as healthy as before. Unfortunately, after a bad day I panicked and went back on the stuff.

I'm going off it again now after just a couple weeks on it but I don't want to have to wait months to get my sexuality back. So I want to try something to get it back quicker. Tribulus sounds great. I think I might try it.

It's such a shame being so sexless and knowing how much sexual vigour I used to have.

is it safe to take Tribulus while I'm still going off Paxtine (Paroxetine)?
