withdrawal got worse at the end - also tinnitus
i just put a similar message on 'good experiences' then realised it would be better here.
Ive had an unusual withdrawal from paxil. I cut down from 20mg to 5mg in 5 months, in 2.5 mg stages. During this i felt generally ok and my depression and anxiety did not really come back. The only physical symptoms i got were headaches and muscle pains about every 2 weeks after cutting my dose, but it was not too bad. Ireally thought i would totally withdraw and be fine. But when i started to go down from 5mg the sympotoms got much worse and even when i started taking 2.5mg every two days instead of every day, the headaches/muscle pains were probably at their worst. Whats worse is that i didnt det very depressed untill this stage, even though id been cutting back so slowly. i began to feel suicidally depressed at about 2.5mg every two days, which im told is such a small dose it should be doing nothing. has anyone else had any such experiences? i also got tinnitus, ringing in my ears, when i was on 2.5mg a day. the doc says thee is no damage anywhere in my ears - its just my brains perception that is wrong. i pressume this is the drugs, if anyone else knows anything about this id really appreciate some comments/experiences etc. thanks |

Even small amounts have a great impact.
Justin, the small amount of 2.5 mg still has a great impact on the brain. It's amazing, isn't it? I personally do not believe that alternating days of taking/not taking Paxil/Seroxat is wise--but to each his own. I dropped by 1 mg increments under 10 mg. I primarily used the liquid to do this. I noticed that each new drop of 1 mg was felt a couple days later. I couldn't believe that such a small amount would be noticed. Hey, my brain noticed!
Might it be better for you to maintain steady levels of the drug and not skip days? Having that ringing in your ears has to be miserable. I didn't experience that, but I sure had just about everything else. Not fun at all. Good luck. I hope someone will be able to give you more specific advice for your inquiries. |
