weight issues and sex drive/need encouragement

Hi everyone,

I started weaning myself of paxil because I want to get pregnant. My only real problems with it were weight gain and loss of sex drive. This is my second time on paxil and like fifth on an SSRI, and somehow felt that those two issues were permanently damaged by the medications. One of my motivations to quit is eventually losing the weight and wanting sex again. I need to know, from people who managed to quit paxil, if those two issues ever get better. Please, I need encouragment.

Exercise is the answer

Hi Diana,
To answer your questions on loss of sex drive and weight gain. I feel I have found the answer! It's not a quick fix, but it does work. I have started exercising again - rigorous, strenuous, cardio level exercise about 3 times a week. I had gained about 18 pounds while on paxil, and I've lost 12 lbs already. And guess what, the libido is showing a flicker of awakening. I feel so fantastic after a workout, I forget all my withdrawal woes. Find an exercise program you enjoy that works for you. For me, it has been yoga, 3 times a week, a 90 minute class. Because of the deep breathing during the exercises, my whole body gets lots of oxygen, and I feel great for days.
Yes, there is definitely hope.
