Dizziness when putting head back

Hello all,

it seems that I get dizzy when I put my head back. I never had this before taking the meds and wonder if it really can come from them or if it has a different cause. I fear that if I go to an orthopedist that he treats me because he thinks that my problems surely come from the neck even if it is not the case.

One of the really bad things with w/d is that one cannot say if symptoms are related to it or not. My trust in doctors is completely gone and I do not want to be treated if it is w/d.

Did anyone of you have similar problems?

I am currently absolutely convinced that I will never heal again, because no one can help me. When the weird vertigo/dizziness or however one can describe it came up, I went to an orthopedist and told him of my status (did say anything about the pills). He made a radiogram of my cervical spine and found 2 anomalies and said that all my problems ("vertigo") come from the neck. The fact is I never had any problems with my neck my whole life. And now, after taking the pills I suddenly have problems that could come from spine or from the meds, just because I let someone examine my neck. I am close to becomming nuts.

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

Your postings just gave me a lot of relief. Thank you all very much!
I am totally confused and don't know what to believe anymore...though I am still in w/d because of symptoms that cannot come from the spine.

Without this forum, I wouldn't be sane anymore, I guess...or be full of other remedies...

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

when I first got off Lexapro, like 2-3 months after the last dose, I would lay down flat on the floor, face up, and the room would spin around. I NEVER had this as well. I would also get up in the morning and experience vertigo...I went to the doc and they didnt do much. It has resolved a lot but I still experience off balance/dizziness to this day (literally, today I feel off).

Also, I noticed that if I was in a warm room, I would get hot really easy and then get lightheaded.

I seriously dont know what to call it anymore...vertigo? Dizziness? Lightheaded? Off Balance? beats me but I do know it sucks!

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

Yep, it is very difficult to describe. For me it is no real vertigo, like a spinning room, more off balance and dizzy. Sometimes in the morning, but mostly in the evening. I often feel like I am being thrown around in my body. It is just weird.

The past 2 weeks have been bad again, even have a bit of brain fog in the evenings. I am just glad that during the day I feel "ok" and can go to work.
The lightheadedness is gone for sure, I guess. Haven't had it for months.

I can't even remember how it is to feel normal. And I am again getting more and more anxious because it takes so long to recover after only 4 pills. I am really afraid of permanent damage again...

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

If I lay on my back and then get up I experience dizziness.

My GP says it is an inner ear problem.

I never thought of it as being WD but now I wonder.

Hi Aeromam,

Yes I'm much more sound sensitive.

I really can't stand listening to music anymore, and it was something I enjoyed so much.

Like other posters have said I am also very light sensitive now.

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

I had an ear test and everything was ok. I never had problems with that before w/d, so I am quite sure that it is a w/d symptom after you all mentioned it. Especially because I do not have it all the time.

Btw, I now get weird head feeling when I listen to music over a headset. Not nice.
When I was in hospital for 3 months at the beginning of this year, I felt much better most of the time than now. Maybe because I had absolutely no stress and we worked out every morning for 15 mins.

well, let me tell you this, I have DJ'ed many times in the past and neverhad hearing issues. A few months off Lexapro, I noticed I couldnt stand the sound of my wife's blow dryer, blender, and other sounds that never caused me issue.

Dam, I should get my ears checked....regular doc?

Apparently the main cause of dizziness is often inner ear problems.

I saw my GP but you can see an ear specialist to make sure.

Sometimes decongestant can help. It did me for awhile, but now I'm wondering if it is WD.

I have also had rolling flashing lights in the perifery of my eyes and have seen several eye doctors who say there is nothing wrong with my eyes.

Am wondering if this could be the SRI's also as I have heard that they can cause eye problems.

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

I also got eye problems around 6 months off Lexapro. Can't use TFT monitors anymore and I sometimes have weird lights when I close my eyes. But they only last for some seconds.
So I guess your eye probs are SSRI related, if your doc said everything was fine.

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

funny, i just went to the eye doc yesterday and he said my eyes were perfect. i asked him about the eye floaters and he said he didnt see any...but also said that with my poor vision (i've been wearing glasses since I was , my eye ball has a longer shape, meaning more potential for eye floaters.

Dizziness sucks!!!!!!!!

Aeroman, can you tell me when you felt you were really getting better? I mean without getting any new symptoms and some old symptoms diminishing?

hey stan, I am looking forward to year 3 and 4, even 5....I stop thinking about it a long time ago. I just live for today and make the best of it.

TRUST ME, I am at a better place NOW than I was in the Summer of 2008 (Months 3-6).

Re: Dizziness when putting head back

yeah, i still have the back pain, but thats another topic

Sometimes I do ok with no dizziness and sometimes it comes back. The sound sensitivity took me off guard. So, maybe its w/d? Not sure but I'm not going to dwell on it.
