Relief for withdrawal

I've read with interest the very different responses to coming off of Paxil but I haven't come across any suggestions or success stories about things you can do to lessen or elimiinate some of the withdrawal symptoms.

Does anyone have a success story about beating the withdrawal blues. I've been on Paxil for seven years and am now starting to come off it. I am experiencing some symptoms, not all.

Anyone?

acupuncture for withdrawal

Acupunture worked for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I went cold turkey and the acupunture twice a week helped. I suffered very little and was able to keep a positive attitude. My insurance is paying for my visitss. I would suggest this to anyone. My docotr also helped a women who was on Paxil for nine years get off of it. It took her 8 months but it worked.

Hi-Since Paxil does not cure the reason one went on it I did cognitive therapy and weaned off Paxil 20mg over a 7 month period and I drank water for the spaceyness. So I consider myself a sucess story. I had minimal withdrawal doing it slowly as opposed to the horrible withdrawal I had when I did it fast and only ended up back on it.If a person goes on it for anxiety and depression as I did cognitive therapy is required to change ones way of thinking. Hi, Steve, it sounds like you are taking the better--if there is such a thing of Paxil. When I was on the 20 mg Paxil, I was ok, when I felt better and went off it.There seems to be a longer half life with the 20 mg. Paxil. Now that my doctor is prescribing the "new" Paxil CR--it's a totally different pill--am going to try for second time to come off it. Very difficult, lots of "zaps, nervousness--very unpleasant. The continuous release Paxil, for me--is making me more anxious, with insomnia. Will cold turkey it with doc's ok, exercise more, take l mg xanax twice a day--and with luck in a month should be ok. Molly After clean from Paxil, back to Prozac.

coming off of paxil

I took my daughter off of it by having her take it every other day until they were gone. Seemed to work fine for her.

suggestions

WATER WATER WATER!!!!!!!!!!! Drink alot of water! It does help. Get yourself into some type of exercise routine. I went to water aerobics for the last couple of months of my weaning and I really feel this was a major contributor in assisting me to get off paxil. The rush of endorphins does help.
Also some people have discussed fish oil capsuls. I did not take these myself, but many swore by them. Vitamin B's and C are great too!

Most important is to remind yourself every single time that you might feel out of control or edgy that it is the withdrawal...that you are not reverting back to your old self...that it is the withdrawal.

Talk therapy will also get you through. Having a good support system is important. I write in a journal to this day whenever I am feeling uneasy and need a release. And I also take Klonapin a .5 miligram dose as needed. Now I only take it once at night before bed. But when I first got off the paxil I would take it once in the late morning and then once again before bed.

Please do consult with your doctor about anything you decide to do before doing it...just to be on the safe side.

Good Luck to you!!!
All My Best,
Dianna
