2 WEEKS OFF PAXIL........AND COUNTING

I am only a little bit ahead of you. At first, I had no symptoms of withdrawl, but last night I came to the internet to start reading up. My Dr's. told me there would be no withdrawl. However, I find myself extrememly emotional (I cried when I finally finished a 6 month project at work) and I get aggitated over things that never bothered me before. My poor dogs! They don't know which way to turn right now. I get very dizzy at night time, particularly after I workout. I also have these "brain blinks" that I guess are the electric shocks I've read about. I also hear a woosh noise in my ears when I have a brain blink.

Thus far, after reading other peoples' testimonies, I consider myself lucky. I put on an incredible amount of weight while on paxil, and I just couldn't stand it anymore. Thus, my decision to stop taking the drug. I also felt I didn't need it anymore.

I'm trying to come off almost cold turkey. I certainly hope I do not progress as some of the other cases have. I was only on paxil for a year, but prior to that, it was Zoloft for about 18 months. Oh yea, another thing. I'm having very wild dreams (dreams that really don't make too much sense) and I get scared at night. I'm not panicky scared like what I used to be with panic attacks..........this is just freightened! Last night I slept with all the lights on in the house.

I will be anxious to hear how you progress through your withdrawl. Its good to know I am not alone.

Hi to both of you,

You are both experiencing classic withdrawal symptoms of Paxil. I had them all. Oh I remember those strange withdrawal dreams! They were horrible! You don't know whether you are in a dream or if its reality.

The symptoms will ease up as time goes by.

The scary stuff to watch for is the feelings like you're gonna kill yourself and/or you're gonna go crazy. Those are the scariest! If you get feeling like you can't take it anymore, then its time to go back on Paxil and wean a whole lot slower.

Not everyone experiences withdrawal real bad.

Good Luck!!

paixl

Boy I'v gone cold turkey off paxil myself and I'v had the same horriable experiences, very strang dreams that appear real, and yes the sound like a woosh...and lastnight I could not sleep with out the tv because i kept falling into to very strange dreams, if i had any idea withdrawn from paxil was this bad, I never would have gone on them in the first place.
