Losing balance
Hi all,
I have moments where I nearly lose my balance and fall over, and also at these times it feels like I am about to pass out. It has nothing to do with over-exertion or being hungry, because these moments occur at times when I am just sitting still in a chair and am not hungry. Is this a w/d symptom? Thanks.

Re: Losing balance
If you feel like you're about to pass out and almost fall over, go to the doctor; things like this can't just be blown off as withdrawal. Especially so, if it happens when you're sitting still. It can be attributed to anxiety, but no one can tell you that for sure.

Re: Losing balance
Could be blood pressure, blood sugar, inner ear problem...
I just went through a spell of this and had a bunch of tests but nothing was found and it went away on its own. I haven't taken a psych drug in 3+ years.

Re: Losing balance
By all means, see a doctor. I'd be surprised if he /she finds anything.
On the other hand, this is "classic" withdrawal, I had very similar issues, sometimes very scary. In retrospect they were INDEED blood pressure issues..SSRI's have a marvelous ability to screw up the inner ear( balance) and add to that do weird things to the nervous systems response to changing bloodflow. For example, I had for almost 4 years, a type of dysautonomia, where after eating a meal, me heart would be "pounding" for about an hour afterwords, and I mean pounding, thumping , sometimes tachycardia or arrhythmia. What was happening was that the nervous system was"exaggerating" the necessary response to the necessary bloodflow, misreading it , in a manner of speaking . As I healed, this slowly receded, slowly. I still have times where if I eat something that is sugary, starchy or what my body considers toxic, I ll have these. In a few weeks I will give my 4 year post paxil update and go over all these issues. Anyhow, got to doc, check it out. In my case, I had so many "cardiac symptoms" that it would lead you to believe I had some kind of advanced cardio-myopathy ......of course I didn't, but it didn't make these experience any less scary, it was terrifying. These drugs are terrible, doctors have and continue to be part of a great cycle of suffering and harm, either from pure arrogance, stupidity or greed. A doctor worth his/her salt would stay clear of these horrendous drugs. Cheers, JRM |

Yes, that is exactly what I have experienced too. All of a sudden, it is like you are standing on a boat that is rocking violently. Strangely, it happens even when I am sitting down too.

I can't wait to be 4 years away from this stuff! I have noticed that I get the passing out feeling AFTER I eat, like you did (except your symptoms were cardiac, where mine seem to be CNS). Yes, these drugs are so terrible and inhumane - no one should have to experience the effects that these drugs induce. And if I have to hear one more doctor say that w/d only lasts one month, I am going to slap them in the face!! My neurologist has ordered an MRI because I've never had one, and just to be sure there isn't something else going on. I suspect they will find nothing, but I guess it's good to get it checked out.
