JNK Supplements?

Has anyone tried JNK Supplements to help with w/d effects? I've had someone suggest them but they are very expensive!

Re: JNK Supplements?

They are part of the road back program. There is no need to spend that amount of money on supplements that can be purchased anywhere.

I tried the Body Calm Supreme... It didn't do a thing for me. In any case, the Road Back program is very similar to PP but with supplements. If you want to try to Body Calm, i have a bottle 80% full... pay shipping I'll send it to you

Have to beg to differ. The Road Back is ALL about selling expensive supplements. We have talked to the "owner" and he admitted that he has no clue about withdrawal and is basing his supplement program on some bird that he googled about.

It was some bird that if it took certain supplements toxic substances would bypass the liver, or some craziness like that.

Re: JNK Supplements?

The 'Body Calm' is tart cherry extract, and the 'Body Calm Supreme' is passionflower. I've found passionflower very helpful. You can buy these supplements from anywhere, I don't think there's anything special about their brand.

Re: JNK Supplements?

My research would suggest that both L-Theanine and Passionflower are dangerous to be taken with Paxil or during withdrawal. L-theanine affects Serotonin levels in the brain and thus may be contraindicative of Paxil's attempts to balance serotonin levels in the brain. L-Theanine appears to be very safe to use after off Paxil but not while using Paxil. As for Passionflower, it is proven to be a mild MAOI and thus should be avoided while taking Paxil or any other SSRIs as it can cause Serotonin Syndrome. Mixing SSRIs and MAOIs is a real no-no! Just trying to help out with my research.

Re: JNK Supplements?

I do wonder about theanine. I was drinking green tea last week, and found it relaxing, however sometimes it seemed to make me feel kinda depressed (I usually had 2 cups per day).

I've also heard that about passionflower.

Can you please post the research? I have also found Passion Flower to be very helpful during WD and have never heard of this.

Re: JNK Supplements?

I don't believe it's correct that passion flower acts as an MAOI. I think it's an urban myth based on the fact that it can potentiate the effects of certain medications, including MAOIs.

Did a bit of googling as suggested, but I don't see anything reliable that suggests there is any documentation for MAOI properties of passiflora. I think it's very important to check out the reliability of a source of information, whether it's on the internet or even in print. (For example, googling these terms will probably bring up this thread soon!)

But if you don't feel comfortable with taking any supplement, by all means avoid it.

Re: JNK Supplements?

I don't know if this makes things clearer or just proves they don't really know how it works: http://medherb.com/Materia_Medica/Pa...ionflower_.htm

Hard to imagine the Eclectics got any results using it for whooping cough though, as stated at end of entry. They gave me barbiturates for whooping cough and even that barely made a dent in the whooping.
