Anybody know where to find people with permanent lithium neurotoxiicity?

Hi everyone,
I am trying to get ideas on where to find people who have had neurotoxicity from chronic lithium poisoning?
Any ideas? If so that would be great.

Re: Anybody know where to find people with permanent lithium neurotoxiicity?

Hi,

See this blog entry by Bob Fiddaman on Susan Schechter, the author of the popular blog, 'If you're going through hell keep going'.

She is in the hospital of kidney dialysis after being on lithium for 25 years.

Good luck and I so sorry for your difficulties.

Did you ever think about stem cells?

Sog, you've asked us this many, many times before. We don't know any more about it than you do and all you can do is Google.

Walden, you keep throwing this out like it's a possibility of being used. NO ONE is going to use stem cells for this. They are barely using stem cells for diseases that it is known to work for.

Stem cells, theoretically, can work for every kind of brain injury.

Re: Anybody know where to find people with permanent lithium neurotoxiicity?

It would be very dangerous using stem cell therapy when we don't know exactly how these medications work. Nor do we know exactly what causes the various mental illnesses. Hence the reason for the vast amount of problems experienced by people taking psychotropic medications.

Exactly! Stem cell isn't the magic cure for everything(minimally successful in traumatic brain injury), and it's use in this application is rampant speculation not based in the reality of the current use of stem cells.

Magic cure or not....do you honestly think anyone could afford such a thing? Seriously, that's not even realistic.

Re: Anybody know where to find people with permanent lithium neurotoxiicity?

My question is, do you want to find PEOPLE with the problem, or do you want to find people DISCUSSING the problem? If you want to find the actual people, get a job as a nurses' aide on a psych ward. You will find them.

If you want to join discussions, do like Laurie said and Google it. OR maybe better, go to Dogpile and get a LOT of results.
